RWWOKS Chapter 32

This entry is part 33 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

**Chapter 32: The KOF Invitation**

For non-melee reincarnators, constitution was rarely one of their top attributes. The boy hadn’t invested in any related stats, leaving him with only a measly 50 health points.

If he were targeted by concentrated attacks, even the three abnormal Titans could quickly finish him off.

“Damn summoners,” the boy gritted his teeth. The mental energy orb he was preparing shifted form, spreading out like a shockwave around him.

The three Titans, who were about to attack, were sent flying by the surge of energy, temporarily saving the boy from certain death.

However…

**Bang!**

Pain shot through the boy’s chest as a damage notification appeared.

[You were shot by ID 14580. Armor-piercing bullet effect activated, ignoring 70% of defense, causing 18+8 points of piercing damage.]

One shot had taken away nearly half of his health. One more, and he’d be dead.

Panicking, the boy didn’t hesitate and unleashed a high-powered mental blast. This time, it was Fang Bo’s turn to feel like his brain had been struck by a hammer.

But with Fang Bo’s naturally high mental strength and health comparable to a tank’s, the damage was barely a concern. He regained his composure in less than half a second and saw the boy quickly stuffing a bun into his mouth.

**”Little Licker!”**

The fastest of Fang Bo’s Titans, Licker #3, darted toward the boy like the wind, jaws wide open, ready to swallow him whole.

Though the boy managed to fend it off with an energy blast, it was clear he had no more effective means of defense.

Watching the spiritual reincarnator flee in disarray, Fang Bo realized the strengths and weaknesses of a team.

With a well-rounded combination of attributes and skills, a squad could defeat enemies far stronger than them. Each member played their role perfectly—whether in attack, defense, or support. Together, they were a formidable force.

But once their formation was broken, the weaknesses of individual combat became apparent, especially when facing an all-around reincarnator like Fang Bo. No matter which angle they tried, they struggled to find an opening.

He didn’t have particularly powerful skills, but the combination of firearms, summoning, mental strength, and a large health pool made him surprisingly difficult to handle.

Mental attacks were ineffective, his high health made him hard to kill, and anyone who wasn’t careful would get entangled with his summoned creatures.

The boy, who was now running for his life, felt like spitting blood in frustration. Who would’ve guessed that Fang Bo was a summoner? In most cases, reincarnators who followed the strength, agility, or constitution path far outnumbered those who specialized in spiritual abilities, summoning, or healing.

The reason was simple: in the early stages, everyone had low stats and few powerful skills. This made spiritual reincarnators, in particular, extremely lacking in firepower.

Those in a team were somewhat better off, as they had the support of teammates. But for loners, their situation was much worse.

Their rare moments of explosive power quickly faded, which in a dangerous storyline world was practically suicidal. That’s why everyone instinctively assumed Fang Bo was a gunner or a strength-type fighter.

“I miscalculated,” the boy muttered bitterly, pulling out a peculiar item from his mark.

Seeing this, Fang Bo immediately went on high alert, suspecting the boy was about to use a desperate, last-resort item.

Instead, the small object suddenly exploded, and with a powerful shockwave, the boy was flung several hundred meters away, landing in the ocean with a splash—he had fled.

“A smart move,” Fang Bo muttered as he turned his attention toward the sniper.

Captain Kuro was still being suppressed, constantly on guard against sniper attacks. If Fang Bo could take out the sniper, the tide of battle would surely turn.

“If you can’t take down Kuro quickly, your ambush plan is doomed to fail.”

The sniper, overwhelmed by the interference of Fang Bo’s summoned Titans, struggled to adapt.

He managed to blow off Licker #3’s head with a single shot, but with no time to reload, he had to pull out a submachine gun to suppress the other two Titans.

Fang Bo, sensing the shift in battle, focused his mental energy to its peak. His piercing mental attack hit the sniper like a spike driven into his skull.

“Argh!” The sniper cried out in agony, stumbling backward, trying to regain his balance.

He attempted to shoot back, but every bullet was absorbed by the massive bulk of Titan #2, whose thick belly acted like a shield.

**Bang!**

Fang Bo fired a shot that hit the sniper square in the chest, dealing massive damage and leaving him critically wounded.

This scene caught the attention of two reincarnators engaged in the fight against Kuro. Their expressions turned thoughtful as they considered their next move.

Now they had two choices. First, abandon the attack on Kuro and retreat to save the sniper. Second, go all out and kill the boss as quickly as possible.

After a brief hesitation, Olson decisively chose the latter. He wasn’t about to give up the rewards that were almost within his grasp.

In this world, it was every man for himself. If his teammates were too incompetent to stop a single summoner, that was on them.

“Randy, pin him down!”

“Leave it to me.”

With his charge skill off cooldown, Randy activated his forced lock-on ability, transforming into a blur as he rushed toward the boss.

At the same time, Olson began charging up his attack, flames burning fiercely on his mechanical gauntlet.

**MAX Heat Drive!**

If the attack landed, given Kuro’s current condition, it might very well kill him on the spot.

Sensing the urgency of the situation, Captain Kuro activated Silent Step with all his might, disappearing from sight. When he reappeared, he was standing behind Fang Bo—clearly intending to use him as a scapegoat.

“That damn bastard,” Fang Bo cursed inwardly, seething with anger. But now was not the time to turn against Captain Kuro.

Titan #2 managed to block Randy’s charge, but it couldn’t stop the fiery finishing move that followed.

If Titan #2 went down, Fang Bo would be next in line for the enemy’s concentrated attacks. In a battle of this intensity, his 100-odd health points wouldn’t last long.

“No choice.”

Taking out his last piece of sauce-covered steak, Fang Bo activated his only healing skill, “Heal.” His health rapidly drained as Titan #2’s shattered body began to mend.

Even with Olson’s attack landing, it wasn’t enough to completely destroy the Titan. Combined, their health totaled over 200 points, and Fang Bo could still keep healing with potions.

After downing some rum, Fang Bo heard a sigh from Olson. He then watched as Olson’s team began to retreat.

It was clear—their ambush had failed, and the SNEST Squad had decided to withdraw. If they didn’t leave now, none of them might make it out alive.

Using a strange flying device, the squad members grabbed onto extending tendrils, except for Xiao, who was still struggling against Fang Bo’s Titans.

Seeing an opportunity, Fang Bo fired his last armor-piercing bullet, delivering a headshot that left everyone in awe.

[You have killed ID 12554. Personal exclusive kill chest obtained.]

[You have earned 1 merit point.]

Fang Bo smirked at the retreating SNEST Squad, making a throat-slitting gesture.

Defeated and humiliated, they glared back at him, but there was nothing they could do. If they dared jump off their strange flying device, they’d be dead in moments.

Reflecting on the precious items he had used in this battle, Fang Bo felt an overwhelming sense of frustration—he wished he could have wiped out all five of his enemies on the spot.

Of course, that was unrealistic. Without the help of the storyline forces, he wouldn’t have lasted more than ten seconds against their combined might.

Taking down one was already a significant victory.

“Ahhhh!” In the distance, Lieutenant Commander Ripa screamed in agony.

With no reincarnators left to help, he was nothing more than a moving target for Captain Kuro, not even able to choose how he would die.

Now that the danger had passed, Butchi and Sam, who had been slacking off, jumped into action, ready to wipe out the remaining marines. It was only a matter of time before they achieved total victory.

Fang Bo, uninterested in joining the cleanup, turned his attention to the sniper’s kill chest.

[You are opening ID 12554’s kill chest.]

[You have received 150 story points.]

[You have received a KOF invitation.]

[You have received 7 armor-piercing rounds.]

The story points were mediocre, confirming Fang Bo’s suspicion that most reincarnators didn’t bother saving up.

The armor-piercing rounds were excellent, dealing massive damage, but they were specifically for sniper rifles. They were far too big to fit into Black Star’s chamber.

No doubt, he’d have to sell them off to someone else.

Finally, there was the strange invitation.

[KOF Invitation: Special item. Allows forced entry into the storyline world of King of Fighters 2000.]

“Huh?” Fang Bo examined the intricately designed invitation, surprised at his unexpected reward.

The ability to force entry into a storyline world—something only high-ranking reincarnators could usually do—was now in his hands, in the form of an invitation.

Did this mean that if he chose to use it, he could immediately enter the *King of Fighters 2000* storyline world?

Thinking of Olson’s gauntlet and the SNEST Squad’s peculiar name, Fang Bo guessed that they were likely affiliated with an organization rooted in the KOF world.

If he recklessly ventured there, who knew what risks he might face?

Compared to other storyline worlds, *King of Fighters* was similar to *Dragon Ball* or *One Punch Man*—a combat-focused world. Though there were elements of intrigue, the general structure was all about fighting.

Defeat various teams in the KOF tournament, face the big boss behind the scenes, then fight again. That was the basic formula.

“Not really my style,” Fang Bo muttered, tucking the invitation away. There was no rush. He could wait until his strength was sufficient to explore that world.

For now, he looked forward to the rewards from the hidden quest.
