RWWOKS Chapter 5

This entry is part 6 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Chapter 5: Loot Drop

Fang Bo’s words had drawn everyone’s attention.

Even though the guide had taunted them repeatedly, the newbies had no choice but to swallow their pride. The events earlier had proven just how important information could be.

It couldn’t hurt to listen.

“You’ve got a sharp mind, kid.” Taige chuckled, and it was clear that he appreciated Fang Bo, even more so than the youth with powerful talent, Sean.

However, what Taige said next was mixed with a bit of helplessness. “Great idea, but you know, any intel related to the storyline world comes at a steep price. It’s not something you or I can afford—unless…”

“Unless what?” Fang Bo’s heart pounded.

“Unless you have a team backing you up. They might give you their collected information free of charge,” Taige seemed to hint at something.

Too bad Fang Bo was already lost in his excitement at that moment, completely unaware of what Taige was truly implying.

“Well, then—”

“I’ve said enough.” Taige knew when to stop. Even if he wanted to recruit Fang Bo to his team, that didn’t mean he would lay everything out on the table.

If Fang Bo accepted his offer, he would naturally learn what he needed to know. Otherwise, asking any more questions would be pointless.

Slightly hitting a wall, Fang Bo turned his gaze to the Trost District before him.

Countless soldiers were swarming around, trying to clear a path to the city gate. It was a brutal battlefield, where only those with a combination of luck and skill would survive.

“I was right. This is how it works.”

Gripping the hilt of his blade tightly, Fang Bo’s mind replayed the conversation from earlier.

Now he could confirm it: neither Taige, his team, nor any of the other people in the Reincarnation Space seemed to know the true origins of these “storyline worlds.”

All of these seemingly unknown storyline worlds were actually generated from various manga and anime.

The actions of storyline characters were far from random, and identifying who the main protagonist was could be done at a glance—because all of this knowledge was securely stored in Fang Bo’s mind.

As for why this was the case, he boldly speculated that it might be because he had crossed into a world different from his original one.

“Hopefully, I’ll get a chance to prove it.”

But that was for later. For now, the job was to complete the main mission and see if there were any additional benefits to reap.

**Basic Skill:** Omni-Dimensional Maneuver Gear Mastery LV2 (Temporary)

The temporary skill had leveled up, allowing Fang Bo to handle the maneuver gear like a veteran who had trained for two and a half years.

When facing slow-moving Titans, enhanced mobility was crucial, which meant that now he could aim for even greater goals.

The minimum mission requirement was to hunt a single Titan alone. Since no limit was set on the number, the more he hunted, the better.

The plan was to first fulfill the mission’s basic requirements and then see what would happen if he altered the storyline.

As Taige had said, the Reincarnation Space would continually push you to move forward. Instead of waiting until there was no other choice to fight for survival, it was better to find a way to stay one step ahead.

“Let’s start right now.”

With the guide’s approving gaze on him, Fang Bo was once again the first to leap off the wall.

After pondering for a moment, Taige also left the platform. Guides had many restrictions—they couldn’t help newbie Reincarnators without facing Story Point penalties from the Space.

However, there were always exceptions. If the right target came along, it would be worth taking a small hit to protect them.

These little guys were all quite promising. If he could look after all of them, his boss would surely reward him generously.

On the wall, Sean pondered briefly before nodding to the group beside him. “Everyone, stay safe and look out for each other. This time, we need to hunt as many as possible.”

The girl and the fat guy were smart enough to know they needed to cling tightly to Sean. The other members’ expressions were a bit more complicated.

At a time when life and death were at stake, no one voiced any doubts, but once everything was over, who knew what might be said?

Swiftly maneuvering between buildings, Fang Bo always managed to find the safest landing points.

Even if his grappling hook sometimes landed inaccurately, as long as he didn’t fall, the risks were manageable.

“Maybe my Perception attribute is so high that it’s causing the storyline mission to seem unexpectedly easy.”

Dodging an oncoming Titan hand, Fang Bo shifted his weight at his waist, forcefully twisting mid-air. With a lift of his arm, the sharp hook pierced the back of the Titan’s neck.

Using the propulsion from the gas canister, he spun his body furiously, relying on the momentum to enhance the power of his slash.

[Your slash has triggered an instant kill effect. Mechanism activation in progress… Strength bonus calculation… Resistance calculation…]

[Titan has taken 60 points of critical damage. Titan defeated!]

[You have obtained a Story Chest (White)]

“Can you really get loot drops?” Fang Bo’s eyes lit up, wanting to jump down immediately and retrieve it. However, Titans were already appearing on both his left and right sides.

Right now, Trost District was teeming with Titans in every street and alley, and his Perception was constantly going off like mad, warning of danger.

“Don’t go down there. If you go, you’ll die.” This was the clear message his senses conveyed.

So, Fang Bo took a turn and flew off in a different direction. While he wasn’t greedy, not everyone had the same self-restraint.

Those trailing behind him clearly saw the chest that dropped on the ground. Everyone had played games before, so this scene wasn’t hard to understand.

“Heh heh, if you don’t want it, I’ll take it!” The fat guy’s eyes narrowed as he squeezed the trigger hard, releasing the gas propulsion to its maximum.

He was sick of living by other people’s rules. Even in the Reincarnation Space, nobody had the right to tell him what to do.

“Anyone who bullies me is going to die.” The fat guy’s face twisted with rage as he dove toward the ground, completely ignoring the warning signals coming from behind him.

As long as he obtained that loot, he’d be able to stand out among the newbies. Then, he could play the game his way.

It was a nice idea, but the moment he touched the chest, a cold message from the Space rang out in his mind.

[You are attempting to pick up the spoils of Reincarnator ID 14552.]

[Reincarnator ID 14552 is still alive. Remaining protection time: 29 minutes and 28 seconds.]

“I can’t pick it up?!” The fat guy was stunned and failed to notice the small Titan pouncing at him from the side.

At the critical moment, the guide Taige descended like a savior.

“What an idiot.” Taige raised his arm, forming a gun-like gesture with his thumb and index finger.

Under everyone’s gaze, a pale blue spiritual light began to gather at his fingertip.

“This is…” Fang Bo’s eyes widened. For some reason, this scene felt oddly familiar.
