Chapter 53: The Onmyoji’s Performance

With both of the strongest fighters down, the atmosphere at the scene became rather tense. Everyone had been so confident before, certain that victory would be theirs, even inwardly mocking the other side’s foolish behavior.

But now, no one dared claim they could win for sure.

*Cough, cough.* Staggering over, Vincenzo approached Fang Bo, his tone serious. “Are you really not going to step in?”

“Me?” Fang Bo shrugged helplessly and honestly explained, “To be frank, I’m not well-suited for this kind of arena battle.”

The attacks of the three giant brothers were too limited, only effective in specific circumstances. If the enemy stayed at a distance and avoided running into the crowd, summoning them would be pointless.

Without his summons, Fang Bo’s only option was to shoot. But firing one bullet every ten seconds was laughable in such a fast-paced arena.

If he were to participate, the most likely scenario would be him taking hits for a long time, relying on his high health to search for counterattack opportunities. As long as he didn’t face a top-tier assassin, he might be able to take down one or two opponents with a bit of luck.

Fang Bo’s explanation was sincere, without a hint of deception, yet Vincenzo didn’t seem to believe a word of it. Seeing the gunslinger leave in a huff, Fang Bo couldn’t help but lament the declining trust in the world—there weren’t many honest people like him left.

In truth, Fang Bo wasn’t fond of this kind of arena combat. If it were a street fight instead, he’d be confident in taking down three or four enemies on his own.

“I’ll go.” Stepping forward, Ryuno calmly made her way to the center of the arena.

Her summoned spirits could remain for 60 minutes, which was more than enough for the arena battle. Unlike Fang Bo’s giants, which could only last about 10 minutes, Ryuno’s summons were clearly superior.

While Fang Bo might possess strong spiritual power, his summoning skills were still lacking compared to a dedicated summoner.

As she reached the center, Vincenzo stood up, clearly frustrated, while the others wore similar expressions of discontent. Just as they were about to voice their objections, two blue lights suddenly lit up in the arena.

**Summon Shikigami, Akashita!**

**Summon Shikigami, Ubume!**

Seeing the two spirits beside her, the group suddenly realized they had another hidden powerhouse in their ranks.

“Hmph, we’ll see how good she really is after the fight,” someone muttered stubbornly.

But the next match lasted only 30 seconds before Ubume easily finished off the opponent with a swift strike of its sword.

“Seven more,” Ryuno said calmly, standing in the center as she gazed toward the Navy faction.

“Hurry up. My summons last a long time.”

After a few minutes of waiting, the Navy side realized she wasn’t bluffing and abandoned the hope of stalling until her spirits disappeared.

Next up was a gunslinger, not as impressive as Vincenzo but flawless in technique and fully aware of the importance of targeting the summoner directly.

But Ryuno didn’t give him any chance.

Akashita began beating its war drum, sending bolts of lightning scattering across the arena like rain, while Ubume relentlessly attacked. The poor gunslinger didn’t even get a chance to fire his weapon before being thrown out of the ring by the two spirits.

**Two victories!**

The Navy side now had only six fighters left.

“Damn it, where did this person come from?!” Randy was fuming.

He wanted to step in, but as an MT (main tank) specialist, he knew his skills weren’t suited for solo fights. If he charged into battle, Ubume’s speed would allow it to stab him a few times before he even got close.

Realizing how strong the Onmyoji was, Randy became increasingly anxious.

He had believed his team held the advantage, but reality had hit him hard.

“If Baozi and Mie were still here, that arrogant summoner wouldn’t stand a chance.”

The *NESTS* team had suffered heavy losses in their quest to obtain the Six Powers technique. Randy, even though he had benefited from it, couldn’t help but feel it was unfair.

Because of one so-called “super rookie,” they had sacrificed much of their storyline rewards, scouring the world for speed-based abilities that ultimately cost the lives of three teammates.

Just thinking about it made Randy feel stifled.

That feeling of being overlooked weighed heavily on him, especially since he saw himself as the team’s core member.

Suddenly, the memory of that berserk figure from earlier flashed through his mind, causing Randy to shudder, his anger dissipating instantly.

“Forget it. At least I’m still alive.”

While he was lost in thought, Ryuno defeated two more opponents. Although Akashita had been taken down and Ubume was visibly injured, her four consecutive victories were undeniable, and no one dared underestimate her now.

With only four fighters remaining in the Navy faction, Randy finally stepped forward, carrying his massive shield.

“It’s time for you to step down, woman.”

Ryuno ignored him, silently waiting for the countdown to finish. The rules prohibited using potions, so she wasn’t in great shape. The odds of winning this round weren’t high.

Even so, her goal was to lower her opponent’s health as much as possible, easing the pressure on her teammates.

The battle began quickly, with Randy charging forward like a wild rhino, heading straight for her. Ubume followed closely, striking with its sword, while Ryuno bombarded him with spells.

By the time Randy reached her, he had already lost a third of his health.

If it weren’t for his high HP, any other reincarnator might have already been defeated.

“I forfeit.” Ryuno voluntarily surrendered, activating the protection mechanism just as Randy’s shield was about to slam down.

Watching Randy rage on the battlefield, she smiled slightly and walked calmly back to her team.

“Impressive, huh?” she said playfully, flashing a triumphant grin at her teammates.

She had spent so much time as a mere “sidekick” to Fang Bo, completing task after task without truly feeling any sense of accomplishment.

But after today’s battle, the Onmyoji had finally earned her moment of glory.

“Very impressive.” Fang Bo gave her a thumbs-up, not holding back his praise.

Complimenting others cost him nothing, and if someone else could carry him to victory, he’d happily keep praising them until sunset.

Soon, another gunslinger from the pirate faction stepped forward.

With his expert shooting skills, the gunslinger managed to wear down the remaining two-thirds of Randy’s health, eventually defeating him.

At that point, the Navy faction had lost all hope.

The remaining three participants were far from impressive, and they were swiftly taken down without even needing Fang Bo to step in.

The arena battle concluded with the Pirate faction emerging victorious.

When Olsson finally regained consciousness, he didn’t seem particularly disappointed. He had already completed the hidden task related to the Six Powers and gained enough rewards to make up for his losses. On top of that, he had successfully obtained the fusion materials he sought.

However, failing to acquire the *Silent Step* technique was still a regret for Olsson. He had always been fond of that stealthy ability to silently approach enemies.

While others sulked in silence, Olsson quietly made his way toward the Pirate faction. Ignoring the smug looks from the Silver Fox team, he walked directly up to Fang Bo and asked, “Did you manage to get Kuro’s *Silent Step*?”

“Oh, looks like we’ve got a buyer.”

Without hesitation, Fang Bo pulled out the reward from his inventory, showing Olsson that he had indeed acquired the skill.

Seeing the item he had long desired, Olsson immediately made an offer: “Sell it to me. I’ll make sure the price is worth it.”

To be honest, *Silent Step* wasn’t a particularly high-level skill. Compared to the agility of the Six Powers or the afterimage movement Olsson had learned elsewhere, it wasn’t nearly as impressive.

If Fang Bo sold it in the space marketplace, it would likely fetch between 800 and 1,000 points. However, since Olsson clearly had a strong desire for it, the price could go much higher.

Fang Bo’s mind was racing with possibilities, but outwardly, he firmly rejected the offer without hesitation. “You and I are enemies. Why would I hand over something useful to my opponent?”

“2,000 story points,” Olsson replied, the generous offer nearly causing Fang Bo to break his composure. He managed to resist the temptation, though.

“This is a matter of principle,” Fang Bo said. “I won’t arm my enemies. You underestimate me.”

Olsson, unfazed by Fang Bo’s refusal, made his final offer. “2,000 story points plus a vial of Kusanagi Blood. Take it or leave it.”

“Haha, deal!”

Amid the disdainful glares from the crowd, Fang Bo cheerfully sealed the transaction.

After all, no one should sacrifice money for pride, right? As for aiding the enemy, by the time they crossed paths again, who knew if Olsson would even be worthy of being Fang Bo’s opponent?

For now, what mattered most to Fang Bo was the story points he had earned.

**Kusanagi Blood**: The blood of the Kusanagi clan. When injected into the body, it grants a chance to gain the ability to control fire.

“As expected, it’s just Kusanagi Blood, not Kyo Kusanagi’s blood,” Fang Bo sighed, though he wasn’t particularly disappointed.

Olsson wasn’t foolish enough to give away his best items, even if he wanted *Silent Step*. Injecting the Kusanagi Blood would only grant control over ordinary flames, while the protagonist of the *Orochi Saga*, Kyo Kusanagi, wielded the indestructible crimson flames capable of harming gods.

“Oh, one more thing,” Olsson asked before leaving. “Did you get your hands on Xiao’s invitation?”

“What invitation?” Fang Bo feigned ignorance.

“Never mind.”

With a final glance, Olsson and the Navy faction’s reincarnators returned to the space. But just before disappearing, Randy, the MT, suddenly flashed a mocking smile at everyone.

“Oh, by the way, we left you a farewell gift. Hope you enjoy it.”

As his words faded, an overwhelming sense of danger instantly enveloped the entire group.
