RWWOKS Chapter 61

This entry is part 62 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Chapter 61: Danger Everywhere

A small town was under a terrifying attack.

“Help me!”

“Someone, please save me!”

“Oh my God, where did these monsters come from?!”

As humans fled in terror, the spider-bodied, human-headed monsters let out sharp, cold laughter.

The night was long, and the horrific slaughter continued.

In an ancient-looking courtyard, Fang Bo slowly opened his eyes.

After quickly surveying his surroundings, he realized there was no one else in the courtyard—it seemed as if he was the only one who had entered this place.

“So, this is the *Demon Slayer* world?” Fang Bo stood up and immediately drew his Dragoon pistol.

Anomalies always signal trouble, and the absence of other reincarnators surely had a special reason. Moreover, the screams from outside the courtyard weren’t something he could ignore.

“Is a fight happening right away?” Fang Bo tightened his grip on the flintlock pistol, his eyes focusing on the gradually fading protective barrier around him.

A few minutes later, as the space’s protection vanished, Fang Bo instantly felt a stronger connection to the plot world.

His keen senses detected a threat rapidly approaching the courtyard.

“Help! Help me!” A woman’s scream rang out, and the courtyard door was kicked open from outside.

A terrified woman rushed in, a deep wound slashed across her abdomen as if inflicted by a sharp weapon. Each step she took seemed to bring her excruciating pain.

Despite her injury, she kept running, her fear driven by the grotesque monster chasing her.

Unlike the more alluring Jorogumo, this spider demon was hideously ugly, its eyes filled with venomous hatred, making it appear particularly grotesque and terrifying.

No wonder the woman was so frightened that she didn’t even stop to treat her wound.

Fang Bo calmly raised his arm, his exceptional marksmanship filling him with confidence. Finally, he could experience the thrill of hitting his target precisely.

*Bang!*

The running woman froze, staring at Fang Bo in disbelief.

“Why…?”

A bullet was embedded in her forehead, and the blood streaming down her face seemed to mock her fate cruelly.

Meeting the woman’s bewildered gaze, Fang Bo casually explained, “Sorry, my aim was a bit off.”

As if triggered by this emotional shock, the woman suddenly collapsed onto the ground, her limbs twisting at strange angles, like a giant spider wearing human skin.

“How did you see through my disguise?!” she screeched.

This deceptive trick had allowed her to kill many humans before.

With her current strength, she could have easily hunted her prey, but she enjoyed toying with them. The feeling of breaking a human’s spirit before devouring them was her favorite.

When people were on the brink of collapse, their fear made them taste even sweeter. She hadn’t savored such deliciousness in a long time.

Fang Bo’s outfit didn’t make him look like a professional demon slayer, which was why she had decided to put on her favorite performance. Yet, he had seen through her true form instantly.

“What a pity.” She began to slowly approach, her saliva dripping onto the ground, corroding it with ease.

Her disgusting, grotesque posture made Fang Bo instinctively furrow his brows.

[Yano Ayane (Disguiser)]

[Aggression: High]

[Attribute Focus: Strength, Speed]

[Traits: Regeneration, Weakness Solidification]

[Threat Level: Weak]

– **Regeneration:** Possesses powerful regeneration abilities, slowly restoring body organs.

– **Weakness Solidification:** Cannot be killed unless the head is severed.

The threat was labeled as weak, meaning her highest attribute was likely under 20 points. Still, that didn’t mean she was an easy opponent.

On the contrary, she posed considerable pressure, her ghostly movement speed making Fang Bo hesitant to fire again.

Yano Ayane didn’t know about the Dragoon pistol’s long reload time, assuming he could fire again at any moment. This was her mistake in judgment.

Cautious of another shot, she held back her attack. The previous bullet had almost shattered her skull—if it had hit her neck, things would’ve been much worse.

But it didn’t matter. She wasn’t hunting alone. The monster that had been playing the role of her pursuer was already lunging at Fang Bo.

Tonight, not only would this man die, but no one in the town would escape. Her brothers on the mountain hadn’t had a proper feast in a long time.

*Bang!*

In the end, the flintlock pistol fired another bullet. Fang Bo didn’t use the Ammo Master skill, opting for a regular bullet to pierce the creature’s neck.

The impact of the bullet against flesh created a gruesome display of blood, though it wasn’t enough to completely sever the monster’s neck.

As the creature’s charge was interrupted, Fang Bo activated his gas system and lunged toward the enemy.

“You want to die?” The severely injured monster raised its claws, intending to rip Fang Bo’s guts out.

Unfortunately for the monster, Fang Bo’s keen perception allowed him to easily anticipate the attack by sensing the tensing of its muscles.

With a quick sidestep, he dodged the oncoming claws, all the while reaching out and lightly tapping the creature’s body.

“*Degrade!*”

The creature’s body was engulfed in flames, causing Yano Ayane to hesitate. She finally realized that this human was not ordinary.

But it was too late. Using the monster’s body as cover, Fang Bo stealthily fired a cold shot at Yano.

The ice bullet hit its mark, striking her leg.

Not only did it cause explosive damage, but it also formed a layer of frost on her, drastically reducing her mobility.

Considering the potential dangers ahead, Fang Bo refrained from using his trump card. Instead, he calmly approached Yano, who was still struggling, and pressed the barrel of his gun to her neck.

Meanwhile, the male monster had already been reduced to ashes by the flames.

[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel) Activated: Health +1]

“I’ll ask, and you’ll answer, or you die,” Fang Bo said coldly.

Having fallen so far into the realm of demons, Yano Ayane no longer cared about dignity.

Compared to her eternal life, a brief moment of humiliation meant nothing.

“Ask away, I’ll tell you everything I know,” she said, her body reverting to its human form.

Seeing that Fang Bo was standing close, she took the opportunity to show off her uninjured leg, seemingly trying to hint at something suggestive.

Yano Ayane was certainly cunning, capable of adapting to the situation. Just moments earlier, she had worn a perverse smile, intent on killing him. Now, she seemed desperate to beg for his mercy.

Her only goal was survival. If she lived, she could indulge in more delicacies later.

*Bang!*

However, Fang Bo wasn’t about to indulge her. After asking two simple questions, he decisively pulled the trigger.

[Legendary Trait (Heart of Steel) Activated: Health +2]

Any damage to the body that wasn’t fatal would heal over time, and the stronger the enemy, the faster their regeneration. In many cases, attacking other parts of the body was like doing nothing at all.

However, attacking the neck would trigger a double damage effect.

When combined with critical hits and damage multipliers, this combination could cause devastating results—severing the head with one shot wasn’t out of the question.

[You have obtained a Story Chest (Green)]

The woman was dead, her head severed cleanly by the bullet. Her body quickly turned to ashes, dispersing into the wind.

Once the enemy was dead, Fang Bo’s space mark finally delivered a notification.

[Main Quest: Cleanse Natagumo Mountain]

[Quest Overview: You are a member of the Demon Slayer Corps. You’ve just received an emergency order to join others in heading to Natagumo Mountain.]

[Quest Objective: Eliminate the spider demons on Natagumo Mountain.]

[Tip: You should try to join forces with other members of the Demon Slayer Corps to hunt demons together.]

[Warning: This world operates in cooperative mode. Attacking other reincarnators will result in severe penalties!]

[Warning: Do not disclose any information about the reincarnation space!]

“Cooperative mode?”

Previously, Fang Bo wouldn’t have understood the purpose of such a mode. However, after learning about space wars, he could guess the reasoning behind it.

It was likely meant to teach reincarnators how to cooperate so they wouldn’t become the lowest-level cannon fodder on the battlefield.

From his interrogation, Fang Bo learned that the woman had come from Natagumo Mountain, so it seemed this battle had been intentionally set up by the space.

Skipping the quest details, Fang Bo checked the available achievements.

[You can earn the following achievements in this world:]

– Glimpse of the Future: Become a G-ranked member of the Demon Slayer Corps.

– I’m Not Your Son: Become an official successor.

– Pillar: Become one of the nine highest-ranking swordsmen.

– Logistics Chief: Join the logistics division.

– Trainer: Train a young swordsman.

– Lower Moons Are Also Demons: Kill one of the Lower Moon demons.

– I Defeated an Upper Moon: Kill an Upper Moon demon.

– Changing Sides: Join the demons.

– Long Live Muzan-sama: Gain favor with the Demon King.

– Twelve Moon: Become a member of the Twelve Moon.

[Please increase your rank to unlock more achievements!]

At this point, Fang Bo had no intention of joining Muzan’s faction, so he focused on completing the achievements available for the Demon Slayer Corps.

The roles in logistics and training swordsmen didn’t seem realistic for Fang Bo, but support-type reincarnators might find them more suitable.

His attention settled on the “Glimpse of the Future” achievement, which appeared to be an easy task.

As long as he could help clear Natagumo Mountain, even if he didn’t personally kill a Lower Moon demon, there was a high chance of earning a rank promotion.

Within the Demon Slayer Corps, ranks were very detailed, from highest to lowest as follows:

– Oyakata-sama,

– The Nine Pillars,

– Successors,

– and then ranks from A to K: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K.

The space had automatically assigned him the role of a Demon Slayer member, but he would have to climb from the lowest rank, K.

After a brief moment of thought, Fang Bo closed the space interface and opened the treasure chest he had just obtained.

[You are opening a Story Chest (Green)]

[You have gained 65 plot points]

[You have obtained a vial of diluted Demon King blood]

**Diluted Demon King Blood:** A small amount of Muzan’s blood that Yano Ayane took from someone else. Though diluted, it still contains remarkable power.

“Weird thing,” Fang Bo muttered as he stored the small vial in his mark and slowly walked out of the bloodstained courtyard.

A new world had begun.
