- RWWOKS Chapter 74
**Chapter 74: The Three Pillars**
In the Butterfly Mansion, within the secret room of the Insect Pillar.
“Hurry up a bit more.”
“But I—”
“Don’t give me that! I’m just starting to feel it. If you back off now, you’ll see how I deal with you.”
Under the oppressive command of the Insect Pillar, Fang Bo gritted his teeth and continued his frantic effort. Soon, he had accumulated a full cup of liquid.
After everything was done, the Jorogumo collapsed nearby, utterly drained, feeling as if her entire body had been emptied. Fang Bo’s wallet felt similarly drained—each summoning cost 60 Story Points, and the pain of spending them almost made him faint.
He dripped the gathered venom into the experimental tank, watching as it fused with some strange substance. Butterfly Shinobu’s face lit up with excitement.
“It’s done.”
She picked up the beautifully crafted purple vial and moved to the back of the laboratory, where she pulled off a black cloth to reveal an iron cage beneath it.
Curious, Fang Bo leaned in and saw a demon imprisoned inside.
Despite the peculiarity of the situation, for some reason, it didn’t feel strange to him at all.
As the new toxin dripped onto the demon, it began to wail in agony. White smoke billowed from its body, making it seem as if it were being exposed to sunlight.
Watching Shinobu create this super poison by hand, Fang Bo couldn’t help but silently praise her for her skill. However, when he turned to look at her, he saw a terrifying murderous intent in her eyes.
Fang Bo remained silent, sensing that he could guess her thoughts.
Years ago, the Insect Pillar’s sister, Kanae, had encountered Upper Moon Two during a mission and was killed after a fierce battle. Following that, Shinobu took over the Butterfly Mansion and, after years of effort, became one of the Nine Pillars.
She had harbored a deep wish—to personally kill the demon who took her sister’s life. That’s why she had focused so much on developing poisons; she knew she couldn’t win in a direct fight.
The Jorogumo’s venom had helped her get closer to achieving this goal. Now, all that remained was to find her enemy.
“Even if I die, I’ll make sure you pay for your sins in blood.”
That intense hatred reflected in Shinobu’s purple eyes struck Fang Bo deeply.
Shinobu possessed powerful Wisteria Flower poisons, capable of breaking down a demon’s body. However, the effect was slow and could be countered by the rapid healing abilities of Upper Moon demons.
But with the addition of the venom provided by Jorogumo, the two could be combined to create a far more devastating result.
Her target for revenge was none other than **Upper Moon Two, Doma**.
Doma, the leader of the Eternal Paradise Faith, had a particular liking for consuming young women. Kanae had fallen victim to him years ago.
Now, with this newly developed poison, Butterfly Shinobu might finally have a chance to exact her revenge without having to sacrifice her own life.
Or, perhaps, she could seek assistance from someone else—like the newly appointed Puppet Master Pillar.
[Side Quest: Butterfly Shinobu’s Request (Completed)]
[You’ve earned 120 Story Points]
[You’ve received a Basic Swordsmanship LV1 Scroll]
Looking at the quest rewards, Fang Bo felt slightly conflicted. He realized he might have lost a few Story Points in the process.
But there was nothing he could do. At least he had obtained a Basic Swordsmanship skill scroll. Combined with his Basic Melee skill, his close combat abilities were finally starting to take shape.
After recording the formula for the adjusted poison ratio, the remaining venom from Jorogumo was more than enough for Shinobu to use.
Shinobu carefully stored the notebook where she recorded the information, then quietly moved to the window, gazing at a sparrow perched on the tree branch. She seemed to be deep in thought.
After a long pause, she finally spoke, “The train you mentioned earlier—can you confirm the identity of the enemy?”
“I can’t,” Fang Bo shook his head. He only mentioned that the enemy seemed to be a hand-to-hand combatant demon.
“I see…” Shinobu lowered her head in disappointment, mumbling to herself.
Perhaps out of gratitude for his help or because of a sense of duty, the Insect Pillar finally agreed to join the hunt for the Upper Moon demon.
She wasn’t afraid of dying, but she didn’t want to lose her life before she could face her enemy.
However, Shinobu was well aware of the strength of the Upper Moons. In her view, at least two or three Pillars would be needed to take on an Upper Moon.
If she didn’t go, she knew she would soon receive news of her companions’ deaths.
“Alright, I’ll go with you,” she said, bringing a long sigh of relief from Fang Bo.
Just as they were about to depart, Fang Bo stopped her.
“Wait.”
Seeing her puzzled expression, he explained his concern.
In simple terms, if three Pillars moved together, the enemy might decide to retreat. The best strategy would be for her to join the fight later, once the battle had already started.
“I understand,” Shinobu nodded, took the information sheet from his hand, and left the laboratory on her own.
Watching her leave, Fang Bo quickly followed suit—he still needed to consult with his two other teammates.
Working with other reincarnators would mean splitting the rewards for defeating the Upper Moon, but it would also greatly increase their chances of survival.
After all, their opponent was one of the top three Upper Moons, capable of continuing to fight even after being decapitated.
Even with the Flame Pillar and Insect Pillar on his side, Fang Bo knew there was no guarantee of victory.
Fang Bo wasn’t short-sighted. Instead of taking risks, he preferred to gather all available strength for a decisive battle with the enemy.
When he returned to his room, he immediately noticed the serious expressions on his two teammates’ faces.
“Did it work?” the sorcerer stood up, appearing slightly nervous.
After hearing their explanations, Fang Bo roughly understood the power of their enemy.
Frankly speaking, they were facing an opponent far beyond their level. Without the intervention of key story characters, the three of them wouldn’t last more than ten seconds in a direct fight.
Meeting the sorcerer’s gaze, Fang Bo nodded and said, “It worked. The Insect Pillar agreed to join us in the hunt.”
“Great,” Darren, the ninja, also stood up and immediately initiated a one-sided trade request.
[User #10821 has traded you 800 Story Points]
Hidden quest rewards were rich, and just signing a contract wasn’t enough to freeload the rewards.
For future cooperation, trading items and Story Points was the best course of action.
Without contribution, there would be no gain.
However, as Darren accepted the shared hidden quest, he suddenly remembered something.
Previously, he had promised not to claim the reward from the next chest after receiving an item from a Lower Moon demon.
This promise likely applied to a chest within a certain value range, so trying to cheat by claiming a low-quality chest wouldn’t work.
Thinking he might miss out on a gold-quality chest, Darren suddenly felt as though ants were crawling all over him.
Seeing this, Ali also traded his Story Points.
[User #12443 has traded you 800 Story Points]
In no time, Fang Bo’s Story Points had surged past 2,000 again.
If it weren’t for the time constraints, he would have rushed back to the Demon Slayer Corps’ headquarters to exchange for the symbolic Demon Slayer uniform.
That uniform, being an equipment item, would provide some attribute bonuses. Unfortunately, he didn’t have time to exchange it now.
“Let’s move.”
The Flame Pillar had already gone ahead, so they needed to hurry. But with the train currently out of service, they should have enough time.
As they left the house, Fang Bo spotted a familiar figure—another reincarnator, a doctor, wandering in the distance.
It seemed the doctor was also preparing to head out for his own mission.
“What a coincidence.” The doctor waved with a smile, as if seeing an old friend after a long time.
Caught off guard, Fang Bo smiled back, acknowledging the greeting.
From what he had gathered, this man was usually cold and not one to smile easily. Strangely, today he seemed like a completely different person.
But that wasn’t important. After exchanging brief nods, they each went their separate ways.
Watching the trio leave, the doctor slowly lowered his head, trying to conceal the murderous intent in his eyes.
“Not yet. I can’t act so recklessly in this world.”
“Alright, let’s find a place to release some of this murderous energy.”
“Patience. We’ve already secured a mission. There will be suitable prey soon enough.”
“Ha ha ha ha ha!”
In a fit of strange muttering, the doctor’s figure slowly vanished from the Butterfly Mansion.
—
At night, on a mountaintop a few kilometers from the train station.
“What a beautiful view,” a young man in a black coat stretched out his arms, as if trying to embrace the darkness before him.
It was **Enmu**, Lower Moon One of the Twelve Kizuki. He was the one behind the series of horrific incidents on the train, intending to lure the Pillars to him.
After the defeat of the Spider Mountain demons, Muzan began questioning the value of the Lower Moons. If they couldn’t produce results, things would get ugly.
“I don’t want to disappoint Lord Muzan,” Enmu murmured as he slowly turned around. Behind him stood a large group of
humans.
They weren’t under any direct control, yet none of them tried to escape from the demon. Instead, each person’s face showed a desperate longing.
“Please, let me return to my dream.”
“I don’t want to stay in this reality.”
“Where am I…?”
“We’re in hell!”
Listening to their cries of despair, Enmu felt an immense sense of satisfaction.
He waved his hand playfully, speaking to them in a gentle, brotherly tone, “Don’t worry, as long as you help me kill the Demon Slayers, I can let you live in the happiest of dreams.”
As if to prove his words, Enmu snapped his fingers lightly.
In the next second, each person’s face lit up with joy, as though they had all ascended to some kind of heavenly paradise.
“Yes, just like that. As long as you obey, you will experience all the beauty this world has to offer.”
Enmu chuckled, not because he was toying with a group of weak humans, but because he sensed the arrival of strong foes.
