Chapter 99: Infiltrating the Infinity Castle, the Final Battle Begins!
“What’s meant to come will always come.” Fang Bo turned and gazed in the direction of the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters. If his guess was right, Muzan Kibutsuji was about to make his move, and the final battle in this world was about to erupt.
[Main Mission: Exterminate the Demons (Completed)]
[You have earned 200 Story Points]
[You have received a Basic Swordsmanship Upgrade Scroll]
[Main Mission: Defend the Demon Slayer Corps Headquarters (Activated)]
[Mission Summary: The demons have found the location of the headquarters. You must prevent them from succeeding.]
[Mission Objective: Hold the line until dawn.]
After using the upgrade scroll, Fang Bo’s swordsmanship had reached level 4. His melee attacks could no longer be considered his weak point. Even without his puppets, he could charge in and slash enemies with a blade.
The new main mission involved defending the headquarters, which seemed a bit different from the rumored world mission.
However, Fang Bo didn’t panic. He simply called on his team to follow the larger force toward the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters. The plot had changed significantly, and the space naturally adjusted accordingly. The battle for the Infinity Castle would inevitably break out, and at this point, no one had the power to stop it.
“Crap, the headquarters is under attack!”
“Hurry, we need to get back and help!”
In truth, the Butterfly Mansion wasn’t far from the headquarters. Everyone had just been led in circles, blindfolded, in the past. If they rushed at full speed, it would take only about ten minutes to reach and support the headquarters.
The master had placed everyone nearby to ensure they could respond quickly in case of an emergency. If Muzan could be killed in the explosion, great. If not, the highest-ranking fighters of the Demon Slayer Corps would have to take over.
When it came to speed, Fang Bo couldn’t keep up with the Nine Pillars, but fortunately, he had the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear, which allowed him to stay far enough behind without losing the trail.
Darren’s primary attribute was agility, and speed was his specialty—he was the one person who would never fall behind.
The doctor’s agility was also high, though not as impressive as Darren’s, but enough to keep pace with the group.
As for Ali, the sorcerer, he seemed to have some kind of footwear equipment that greatly enhanced his speed in a straight line. Even though his agility wasn’t high, with the help of his gear, he could still barely keep up with the others.
Judging by how hard Fang Bo was pushing the Omni-Directional Mobility Gear, it was clear just how fast the group was moving—ordinary horses couldn’t have kept up with their pace.
At first, Fang Bo had thought about looking for a car, but after investigating, he realized the world of *Demon Slayer* hadn’t developed such technology yet.
“Man, this is exhausting,” Ali said, sweat dripping from his forehead as he panted heavily. “When I get enough money, I’m definitely getting a long-distance travel tool. This is just too much of a waste of time.”
Hearing his teammate’s complaint, Fang Bo, swinging through the trees, thought Ali had a point.
In this world, nearly half their time had been wasted on travel—moving between regions, going back and forth from the Butterfly Mansion to the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters, and so on.
If they had a vehicle, they could have achieved more, especially in terms of demon-slaying. At the very least, the number of demons they could have hunted would have been much higher than now.
However, obtaining a transport device that could be carried out of the plot world was incredibly difficult. Unless one experienced a special mission, they would have to figure out how to build one themselves.
Of course, they could ask one of the mechanical masters in the space to craft it, but the cost wouldn’t be friendly.
After about ten minutes of running, the ruined headquarters of the Demon Slayer Corps came into view.
“They really came.” Fang Bo turned to look at the anxious faces of the Demon Slayer Corps members.
The Nine Pillars had already charged into the ruins. Even Shinobu Kocho, the slowest of the Pillars, was nearing the headquarters, while Fang Bo’s group still lagged behind.
“Hey, we’re not going to miss out on this, right?” Ali asked, sounding worried.
Seeing the main characters of the plot not far away, Fang Bo shook his head, signaling Ali not to worry.
Sometimes, arriving too early wasn’t necessarily a good thing. Timing mattered more than speed. At least they wouldn’t have to worry about facing Muzan’s wrath firsthand.
At this point, none of the Nine Pillars had activated the three key abilities of the strongest: Marks, Red Nichirin Swords, or the Transparent World, a weaker version of the Byakugan.
Without these three powers, the Nine Pillars couldn’t face Muzan. If they were going to fight, they’d need to wait for Tamayo’s poison to take effect.
After the battle had been going for about half a minute, the weaker team members finally arrived at the ruins of the Demon Slayer Corps headquarters.
Just as they set foot on the shattered ground, they heard a familiar system notification.
[World Line Distortion Exceeds 60%, World Mission Activated!]
“It’s finally here.” The group felt a chill, knowing that their greatest challenge in the Reincarnation Space was about to unfold.
If they could complete the world mission, the rewards would be eye-popping. If they failed, well, they’d simply die.
After all, the difficulty of the plot worlds continued to increase, and if a Reincarnator couldn’t surpass the current mission level, they would inevitably face the end sooner or later.
Since death was inevitable, the timing hardly mattered.
Thus, when the red mission warning appeared, every Reincarnator resolutely chose to accept the mission.
[World Mission: Demon Slayer!]
[Mission Summary: Muzan Kibutsuji has learned of the existence of the Blue Spider Lily. You are about to face the Demon King in direct combat.]
[Mission Objective: Kill Muzan Kibutsuji.]
[Warning: Once the world mission is confirmed, it cannot be abandoned!]
This meant that once the mission was accepted, it was do or die. Even using merit points wouldn’t save a Reincarnator’s life.
[Reincarnator No. 14552, do you accept the world mission?]
Fang Bo silently accepted, and the original main mission was immediately canceled.
From now on, the team had only one goal: kill Muzan Kibutsuji.
In the ruins of the headquarters, Tamayo had just injected the poison into Muzan’s body.
To eliminate Muzan, the biologist had developed four types of poison.
The first one forced Muzan to revert to a human.
If Muzan lost his regenerative abilities, killing him would be much easier.
The second poison caused rapid aging.
It would make his body age at a rate of 50 years per minute, and the process was so subtle that by the time he realized it, it would already be too late.
The third poison prevented Muzan from exploding.
Many years ago, Tamayo had witnessed Muzan being utterly overpowered by Yoriichi Tsugikuni. To survive, Muzan had detonated his body and escaped as countless flesh particles.
This poison was meant to prevent Muzan from escaping in that manner.
The fourth poison destroyed cells.
“Destroying the Demon King’s cells, causing him to weaken continuously. Without this effect, even if the entire Demon Slayer Corps were wiped out, they wouldn’t be able to hold out until dawn.”
This was how the plot was supposed to unfold, but when Fang Bo arrived at the scene, he was stunned.
The Demon King, whose body was slowly regenerating and whose appearance was reverting to that of an ordinary human, was clutching a blue spider lily in his hand.
“These idiots,” Fang Bo’s face darkened as he glanced toward the collapsed ruins of the building.
“You were supposed to lure Muzan here, and once successful, destroy the blue spider lily. How did you let him get his hands on it?”
If Muzan manages to figure it out, not even sunlight will be able to kill him. Then, everything will be over.
“I’ve finally found it,” Muzan said, ignoring the threats of those around him, fully immersed in a rare moment of joy.
Nearby, the demon woman Tamayo remained calm. She had long prepared herself to face death.
The cost of poisoning the Demon King was that she had trapped herself in Muzan’s grasp.
The first to arrive on the scene was the Sound Hashira, who used his twin swords to decapitate the weakened Muzan. But the Demon King had already surpassed his limits— even a severed head couldn’t kill him.
Perhaps only sunlight could truly kill the Demon King, provided he didn’t consume the blue spider lily and create an invincible potion.
As if sensing Tamayo’s gaze, Muzan suddenly lifted his head, his expression twisted into a grotesque smile as he looked at the Demon Slayer Corps.
“Did you really think you could corner me?”
“Nakime, send all of them into the Infinity Castle! Today marks the end of the Demon Slayer Corps!”
Nakime’s power allowed her to transport specific locations into the Infinity Castle, and without this backup plan, the ever-cautious Muzan would never have stepped into the Demon Slayer headquarters alone.
The Twelve Kizuki and a horde of demons were already lying in wait inside the castle. As long as Muzan could hold out until he synthesized the potion, eliminating the enemy would be simple.
As Muzan shouted his command, the faint sound of a biwa string echoed in everyone’s ears. In the next instant, the entire Demon Slayer Corps was transported into the strange spatial castle.
This castle resembled a massive maze, with numerous traditional Japanese buildings interwoven and inverted, making even a brief glance at the layout dizzying.
When Fang Bo’s vision returned, he found himself in a large courtyard. All around him were red and yellow flowers in full bloom, filling the air with a sweet fragrance.
In the distance were several pavilions and chambers, their interiors shrouded in mystery, with dim lanterns casting eerie shadows and a chilling sense of danger lingering in the air.
“As expected, the enemy has separated us.”
Fang Bo summoned his puppet, placing it in front of him for defense, then waved his hand to call forth his familiar.
When the familiar Jorogumo appeared in the Infinity Castle, she immediately became restless, sensing the overwhelming sweetness of the place.
Due to the distortion of space, she couldn’t quite discern the oddity of the castle, but right now, she had only one thought: *I want to stay here forever.*
If she could devour all of the alluring energy she sensed, her strength would undoubtedly increase tremendously.
With his puppet and familiar guarding him, Fang Bo’s sense of security skyrocketed.
Activating his aura detection, he quickly sensed the lurking threats around him.
With a rough count, there were at least ten enemy presences—high-ranking demons summoned by Muzan.
They weren’t quite at the level of the Twelve Kizuki, but at the very least, they were on par with demons like the Temari Demon, capable of causing considerable trouble for the Demon Slayer Corps.
Drawing his Dragon Cavalry rifle, Fang Bo fired a shot into the darkness, severing the arm of an unlucky demon.
Turning to his familiar, he issued a rather unusual command.
“Cut off their limbs, but try not to kill them.”
