- MWM Chapter 364
“It’s impossible to sneak in now; everyone in the Sanctuary must think we’re traitors.”
Near the stone house below the Sanctuary, Leo stopped Seiya, who was about to sneak in.
“So what should we do?”
Seiya scratched his head.
“Don’t move. I’ll make you invisible.”
Leo reached out and touched Seiya, casting a concealment spell over him, then cast the same spell on himself.
“This can only hide our forms, so make sure to suppress your Cosmo as much as possible, or some of the more perceptive Saints might still sense us.”
The principle behind the concealment spell was using magic to bend light, making them undetectable to the average person. However, Saints with sharp spiritual senses wouldn’t be so easily fooled.
Seiya, being a bit careless, needed the reminder.
“Brother Leo, honestly, if you told me you could fly, I’d believe it by now.”
Seiya had grown numb to all the different abilities Leo had displayed.
Leo smiled and gave a thumbs-up:
“I actually can fly. I haven’t even had a chance to use that new ability yet, and you already guessed it. Impressive!”
Seiya: “…”
Aside from a few Cloths that came with wings, most did not grant the ability to fly.
Of course, a Saint could run at incredible speeds, leap far like the Hulk, or even stay airborne momentarily through certain techniques.
However, while Gold Saints could punch at the speed of light, this didn’t mean they could move at the speed of light.
In this aspect, the Thunder Swords were superior; their combined flying speed reached light speed, making it impossible for even a powerful Immortal like the Demon Elder Youquan to counter.
But the Thunder Swords’ combination placed an immense burden on the body and consumed an enormous amount of energy, making it unsustainable for long.
In their concealed state, Leo and Seiya quickly passed through the stone house and reached the training grounds above, where they began searching for Marin.
The recruits doing push-ups under heavy stones were being crushed to death when they couldn’t hold on, while others were climbing out of pits with heavy iron blocks tied to them. If they fell, they’d be impaled by the iron spikes below.
Anyone who tried to escape the Sanctuary was bound upside down and whipped until death, after which their bodies were carted away.
Scenes of bloody, brutal training unfolded before Leo and Seiya, more like they were raising poisonous creatures than cultivating Saints. Those who survived would likely have nothing to do with kindness or justice.
“This is too cruel!”
Seeing the gruesome training on the grounds, Seiya couldn’t help but want to rush in and stop it, but Leo grabbed him.
“Now’s not the time.”
Acting now would be suicide. If they encountered a Gold Saint, escape would be nearly impossible.
Even if they could teleport, no matter how fast it was, it couldn’t outpace a light-speed punch. By the time there was a spatial fluctuation, they’d likely be knocked out, and some Saints were also skilled in space manipulation.
If they tried to fly, a Gold Saint could simply leap over and knock them down with a light-speed punch.
“But those people!”
Seiya glanced around and saw many familiar faces. Although they weren’t friends and had even had conflicts before, they had trained together for six years. He couldn’t bear to watch them be beaten to death.
Leo stroked his chin, then pulled Seiya into a concealed spot.
“Don’t move. Watch me.”
Leo suppressed his Cosmo to the lowest level, then silently chanted a weather spell.
In an instant, the previously clear sky was covered with dark clouds, thunder rumbling overhead.
Bolts of lightning struck down, precisely hitting the guards loyal to the new Pope and Gigas, knocking them to the ground.
These lightning bolts might not affect a Gold Saint, but for the ordinary guards of the Sanctuary, they were more than enough.
If Leo had used full power, even Silver Saints would have suffered.
The key was that he used magic, not his Cosmo. No matter how strong the Gold Saints were, they couldn’t detect his position through this method, leaving them confused.
Just like Seiya was now.
In this world, no Saint could control lightning from the sky like that—only a god from myth could do something like this.
“Brother Leo, don’t tell me you’re a reincarnated god too?”
“Of course not. This is just a special technique, not very powerful, only good for dealing with these small fry.”
Leo shrugged with a smile.
In the training grounds below, everyone was now kneeling, shouting toward the top of the Sanctuary:
“This is divine punishment! Athena must have taken pity on us and sent down punishment!”
Meanwhile, Saga, lying drunk on the massive balcony of the Pope’s palace, being served by a dozen beautiful women, suddenly stood up when he saw the lightning.
“Summon the Chief Strategist!”
The lightning was clearly unusual, but he hadn’t sensed any strong Cosmo in the Sanctuary, apart from the few Gold Saints.
At the moment, Leo and Seiya’s Cosmos were still at Bronze Saint levels, just shy of Silver, so naturally, Saga didn’t pay them any attention.
Moments later, an old man with a cane rushed in, visibly flustered.
“Your Holiness, the lightning just now killed all the supervisors in the training grounds. Everyone is saying it’s divine punishment, that Athena has punished those people.”
Saga furrowed his brow upon hearing this, then tapped his fingers on the armrest.
“Pause the training for now. Has there been any news from Shaina?”
At this point, clearly, the bloody training had sparked widespread dissatisfaction. He couldn’t kill all these people.
Although their strength was as insignificant as ants, after conquering the world, he would still need these ants.
For now, the most important task was to kill Athena.
“The last report said they’d reached the location. We should have news of them retrieving the Gold Cloth by tonight. Don’t worry, Your Holiness. Those Bronze Saints are no match for Shaina and the others.”
“If they fail, then you’re done as Chief Strategist.
The Gold Cloth is not to be lost, and the mortals who dare steal it are unforgivable. The Bronze Saints who dare betray the Sanctuary must die as well. Once Shaina gets the Cloth, have them executed immediately.”
Saga crushed the glass in his hand, sending cold sweat dripping down Gigas’s forehead.
As the Pope’s confidant, Gigas knew all too well how ruthless and merciless Saga was. If he failed this mission, even he might not escape death.
After Gigas left, Saga gazed at the dissipating clouds outside and muttered:
“Athena, this world doesn’t need gods. I am the god!”
