- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 388
After returning to Earth, Leo’s life resumed its usual tranquility.
Apart from regularly sending out his shadow clones to complete various side quests and gradually accumulate more small world time, he spent his days focusing on comprehending the Seventh Sense of his cosmos and waiting for the completion of the spiritual energy converter.
During this period, nothing particularly notable occurred. Neither S.H.I.E.L.D., the government, nor remnants of Hydra dared to provoke Leo.
On one hand, this was because of the immense personal strength Leo had demonstrated, as well as the power of the Li Corporation, which was no longer something to be trifled with. On the other hand, for most minor issues, Leo didn’t need to act personally—his trusted aides Xiao San, Xiao Liu, Xiao Wu, and Jack could easily handle everything.
Jack managed the administrative side, while Xiao San, Xiao Liu, and Xiao Wu handled combat-related matters. Especially since Leo’s close confidants had all been injected with various genetic enhancements, their strength was comparable to that of the Avengers heroes.
In the shadows, there was also the Ten Rings, an ancient organization that had dominated for thousands of years.
Even if someone caused trouble, the issue would be dealt with before it ever reached Leo’s ears.
Leo did return to the Wizarding Empire twice during this period, to execute a few former Ministry of Magic officials who had started scheming while he was away, which served to deter other magic officials in the empire.
He also gained some additional rewards during these visits. For example, the long-distance Portkey he had tasked the Wizarding Research Institute with developing, as well as some impressive alchemical magical products, had finally borne fruit.
Additionally, there was progress in modifying the Killing Curse.
Thanks to the research of Grindelwald and other senior wizards, the Killing Curse had been improved from a single-target spell into a multi-target one. After hitting the first target, it could, at the caster’s will, chain to a second, third, and even a fourth or fifth target. The range and number of targets depended on the wizard’s mental strength, magic power, and mastery of the spell.
This new Killing Curse, which Leo named the “Lightning Killing Curse,” was now ready for use.
Thus, in the fifth month after Leo’s return to Earth, in April 2012, the peaceful days were finally disrupted.
It wasn’t because the main quest had triggered—there was still a month until May 4th, the date of the main quest. Rather, an old witch, coveting the powerful magical abilities of both Leo and Wanda, had come knocking.
“Hello, dear! I’m Lisa, Mrs. Martha’s younger sister. I just moved in with her today. You must be Wanda, right? It’s a pleasure to meet you! Here’s a little gift—I hope you like it,” the witch said.
That morning, Wanda had been slicing an apple with a fruit knife when the doorbell suddenly rang. She rushed to open the door, and a middle-aged woman holding a bouquet of flowers enthusiastically stepped inside.
“Oh, thank you! I love it,” Wanda said, a bit flustered, holding the flowers. It took her a moment to gather herself and thank the woman properly.
She had heard Mrs. Martha mention that her much younger sister, named Lisa, lived in Washington, but Wanda had never met her.
“Hello, Mrs. Lisa. When I chatted with Mrs. Martha yesterday, she didn’t mention you would be coming to New York,” Wanda said, setting down the flowers and pouring a glass of water for her guest.
Lisa, without hesitation, took the water and laughed. “Haha, that’s because she didn’t know either! I had a fight with my good-for-nothing husband and decided to stay with my sister for a few days. You know how men are—useless! Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean your husband. I’ve heard from my sister that your husband is a good man. Is he not home today?”
“Uh, he’s here, just still sleeping in the other room,” Wanda replied, making up an excuse. She couldn’t exactly tell Lisa that Leo was meditating in a pocket dimension within their wardrobe.
“Oh, sleeping this late? Is he feeling unwell? I used to be a nurse—I could take a look if you’d like,” Lisa said, standing up as if to head to the bedroom.
Before she could get far, Wanda quickly blocked her path. “No, no, he’s fine. He just worked late last night, so he’s sleeping in a bit today.”
“Ah, work! I get it—young people have so much energy. My husband, though, he’s a lost cause,” Lisa said knowingly before sitting back down, launching into a rant about her husband.
Wanda blushed, smiling awkwardly. Lisa wasn’t wrong about them staying up late, but it wasn’t the kind of “work” she thought.
Somehow, Lisa’s direct, no-nonsense attitude put Wanda at ease, making her drop her guard. Soon, the two were chatting and gossiping like old friends.
Meanwhile, in the wardrobe’s pocket dimension, where Leo was meditating to enhance his Seventh Sense, he suddenly frowned and opened his eyes.
“Such powerful magic energy, and it’s dark magic at that.”
The cosmos system, based on the principles of the Big Bang, was a unique structure created within the mind. To comprehend the Seventh Sense, one had to constantly strengthen their spirit by burning their inner cosmos.
During this process, Leo’s spiritual energy naturally spread out, even extending beyond the pocket dimension. Just now, he had sensed a strong, hidden presence of dark magic in his living room. Although the person had concealed themselves well, they couldn’t escape his perception.
This dark magic was clearly different from Wanda’s chaos magic and vastly different from the magic used by the Ancient One at Kamar-Taj.
“Could it be her?” Leo wondered, recalling a certain individual.
Agatha Harkness, a dark witch who had lived for over four centuries.
In this world, the Salem Witch Trials had also taken place in 1692, but unlike the events in the *Fantastic Beasts* world, where Muggles hunted wizards, this trial was conducted by the Salem Witch Society. Agatha had been caught learning dark magic without permission and was sentenced to death by her mother and the other witches.
However, Agatha’s dark magic was so powerful that she single-handedly killed all the witches, including her mother.
According to the original story, after the events of *Endgame*, Agatha, drawn by Wanda’s immense chaos magic, would try to take it for herself but end up defeated, leading to Wanda’s acquisition of the Darkhold, a book of evil that granted vast knowledge.
It was by absorbing the Darkhold’s knowledge, originally written by Chthon, that Wanda would evolve into the true Scarlet Witch.
So if someone with such powerful dark magic was now in his living room, who else could it be but Agatha?
“This witch still has the Darkhold with her. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to deal with her early and take it for myself,” Leo thought as he got up and stepped out of the pocket dimension.
