FLDI Chapter 187

This entry is part 188 of 211 in the series Fantasy Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence

The overwhelming aura of the Holy Domain spread across the entire world. The darkness was torn apart, and dazzling holy light filled the heavens. The newly revealed River of the Underworld began to rapidly collapse.

The ominousness and malevolence quickly dissipated.

In the high skies.

The enormous and illusory Divine Kingdom, at the moment it materialized, froze in place.

Invisible forces intertwined across the heavens.

It paused for a brief moment.

Then, it began to fall from the sky.

“Impossible!”

“How is this possible?”

“How could you possibly stop the great Anubis from descending?”

Angry, howling voices echoed as an endless wave of malevolence gathered. The Bloodthirsty Wolf leader slowly emerged, its aura flickering as streaks of ominousness began to disperse.

But at that moment, it had no time to focus on that. Its fierce expression was filled with disbelief.

Divine Descent.

It had been stopped. By mere humans—those insignificant beings.

The blow to the Bloodthirsty Wolf at that moment was unprecedented.

Its faith was almost shattered completely.

In its mind, deities were meant to be distant and untouchable. Once the Divine Awakening was initiated, the great Anubis would descend upon this continent, bringing infinite terror to all.

But now, the situation had completely changed.

A mere ten humans had stopped the divine descent from taking place.

It couldn’t accept it.

It couldn’t face it.

Fury and violence twisted its already terrifying face.

“Roar!”

A low, beastly growl erupted, and in the next moment, its body once again turned into a thick wave of malevolence, charging straight toward the ten Holy Domain knights.

“Not bad. Under the influence of divine power, you’re almost at the sixth tier.”

“But you’re not Anubis. Your strength can’t bear the full might of a deity.”

A light, mocking laugh followed.

The next moment, among the ten knights, one figure holding a knight’s spear raised it high.

Brilliant holy light flared up once again.

In an instant, the endless malevolent aura collided with the holy light.

“Boom!”

Holy light and malevolence intertwined.

The ominousness rapidly dissolved, and the Bloodthirsty Wolf’s figure emerged from the dissipating darkness.

Its pupils widened. Reflexively, it lowered its head, only to find the long spear had pierced through its chest.

The holy light relentlessly eroded the malevolent and dark energy around its body.

At this moment, the Bloodthirsty Wolf even felt its very soul collapsing.

“No!”

A hoarse voice rang out, but it was already too late for any further reaction. Its body began to break apart, the dark aura quickly being purified by the holy light.

“The power of a lesser god is surprisingly effective against the deities of the Underworld.”

A voice, filled with envy, murmured.

At that moment, many of the onlookers looked at the elderly man with slightly altered expressions.

Artifacts—even those that were damaged—held immense allure for those of the Holy Domain.

“Everyone, now is not the time to discuss this.”

“We must seal the surroundings. If that beast comes over, we’ll be in serious trouble.”

The old man glanced around, immediately understanding what the others were thinking. He coldly snorted and spoke.

“Kalienina, you’re overreacting. The Behemoth is currently not concerned with these matters.”

Upon hearing the old man’s snort, someone chuckled lightly.

“Yes, Kalienina, there’s no need to be so hasty.”

After the words were spoken, a few more voices followed with playful laughter.

Of course, despite the lightheartedness, everyone quickly got to work.

After all, they were near Orc territory. While it was highly likely the Behemoth wouldn’t arrive for some time, who could predict what might happen? They didn’t want to face those terrifying creatures.

The ten figures immediately descended to the surrounding area.

Soon.

“Hum!”

A ripple spread, and a massive magic formation began to rise, enveloping the entire area. At the same time, their domain powers rapidly expanded, trying to isolate the entire region completely.

And just as the enormous magic array began to rise, the illusory Divine Kingdom in the sky, which had been swaying violently, finally reached its critical point, plummeting toward the earth below.

Reality and illusion intertwined above the Divine Kingdom.

As the Divine Kingdom fell, it quickly began to transform into the Divine Ruins.

Once it completely fell to the human world, the Divine Kingdom would transform into the Divine Ruins.

At this moment, countless people watched the scene unfold.

The ten Holy Domain knights watched.

At the city walls, powerful noble heirs also gazed at it.

“We succeeded!”

Isabelle muttered to herself. Her voice was filled with a sense of relief, and she exhaled a long breath.

This reaction wasn’t unique to her. Throughout the city walls, whether it was the Duke’s heirs or the heirs of powerful marquises, nearly all of them reacted in the same way.

It was only at this moment that everyone could finally relax.

This meant the Divine Awakening had completely failed, and the divine descent would no longer occur.

Their risk had vanished.

“Is this the Divine Ruins?”

Brian muttered, his eyes flashing as he looked at the rapidly descending Divine Kingdom. His heart was filled with shock.

This was the first time he had witnessed the birth of the Divine Ruins.

He had also seen the failure of the Divine Awakening with his own eyes.

More than that, he had witnessed the Holy Domain warriors take action, and the emotions rising in his heart were beyond words.

“Yes, this is the Divine Ruins. Once it completely falls, it will automatically draw in all living beings within a certain radius.”

“Prepare yourselves; we can depart now.”

Isabelle seemed to hear Brian’s words and nodded in agreement.

“Lady Isabelle, let’s wait a little longer. It’s not safe yet.”

Before Isabelle could act, Thor stopped her with a soft voice.

“Wait a little longer?”

Isabelle, puzzled, asked instinctively.

Thor nodded but didn’t explain further.

Isabelle hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to hold off.

While they paused, however, many others within the city walls couldn’t sit still.

Figures began to prepare rapidly.

Moments later, a group could no longer hold themselves back and began making their way toward the Divine Ruins.

Once one group moved, another followed, then a third, and a fourth.

In less than half an hour, more than half of the heirs from powerful noble families had left the city walls, with more still heading out.

“Lord Thor?”

Isabelle looked at Thor, puzzled.

“Let’s wait for another half hour.”

In response to Isabelle’s questioning gaze, Thor calmly spoke.

Isabelle opened her mouth, but in the end, she didn’t voice any objection.

As time passed, there were only a few groups remaining at the city walls, with most of the forces already gone.

And at that very moment.

“Boom!”

A massive explosion echoed across the land, causing the entire world to tremble. The Divine Ruins fell heavily into the space below.

Instantly, the entire world swayed.

That area was engulfed in dense black mist.

“Hum!”

Ripples spread, and the next moment, an overwhelming gravitational pull began to erupt.

But just then.

“Roar!”

A gigantic beastly roar reverberated from a distant place, and in the next instant, an overwhelming aura swept toward them.

“Hum!”

The massive magic formation flared to life in that instant.

Layers of ripples spread, trying to counter the terrifying roar.

But it lasted only an instant.

“Crack!”

A sharp cracking sound rang out, and the magic formation shattered in an instant.

“Puff, puff, puff!”

The sound of blood spraying filled the air. The ten Holy Domain knights didn’t have time to react before they were sent staggering back, their faces pale.

At the same time, the Divine Ruins, which had been falling, suddenly came to a halt.

The powerful gravitational pull, which had been about to explode, ceased.

And in the instant the magic formation shattered, figures from the distance, who had been rushing toward them, had arrived.

In the front ranks of the approaching teams, one knight after another suddenly exploded, their bodies shattering into a bloody mist.

Even those further behind felt a heavy pressure in their chests, their bodies crashing to the ground.

Their heads spun.

The world seemed to be spinning around them.

“What… what happened?”

A voice stammered out, but even as the person crashed to the ground, they were too stunned to pay attention to their own injuries. Instead, they looked toward the distant Divine Ruins in confusion.

At the site of the Divine Ruins.

The ten Holy Domain knights were pale, breathing heavily, and blood dripped from the corners of their mouths.

Yet, they couldn’t focus on their wounds. Each of them stared in horror at the distant horizon.

Endless golden light poured across the sky, and a massive black shadow appeared in the distance.

“The Behemoth!”

“How could this be?”

One of the Holy Domain knights mumbled, his face filled with disbelief.

“This is bad.”

Another knight sighed bitterly, shaking his head.

They were the Holy Domain—some of the kingdom’s most powerful beings—but even they weren’t concerned with ordinary Orc tribes. Even a Tier 5 or 6 Orc tribe didn’t warrant much fear.

But the Behemoth was different. It was a Tier 7 Orc tribe.

A truly top-tier existence on this continent.

Their strength couldn’t even compare.

“Kalienina!”

Someone seemed to remember something and turned their gaze toward Kalienina.

At this call, all eyes turned toward him.

Kalienina understood their gaze perfectly.

But at this moment, he didn’t know what to say.

He wasn’t even sure whether their kingdom’s forces had truly arrived.

His silence caused many people’s expressions to twitch.

Some even felt the urge to curse, but they managed to hold their tongues.

In this situation, it was better to focus on how to face what was coming.

The arrival of the Behemoth meant things were no longer so simple.

It was very likely that a war with the Orcs would break out.

The thought of an Orc War made everyone’s hearts grow heavy.

“What should we do?”

The elderly woman’s hoarse voice broke the silence as her eyes swept over the group.

But all she received in return was silence.

“This isn’t our fault,” someone said quietly. “It’s the Bloodthirsty Wolf’s doing. This has nothing to do with us humans.”

In the midst of the silence, another voice answered with resignation.

“Do you think the Behemoth will listen to you?”

“Or do you think it will believe you?”

They all knew what the problem was.

The Bloodthirsty Wolf’s actions had left no trace to prove its death. Many Orcs had been slaughtered in the human defenses, and now, with the Divine Ruins descending and the Divine Awakening ending, these ten Holy Domain knights found themselves in Orc territory.

To go to the Behemoth and claim that the Bloodthirsty Wolf and the other Orcs had caused this, with no involvement from humans, would be laughable.

If the Behemoth believed it, it would be a fool.

They wouldn’t believe it either.

But the truth was, that’s exactly what had happened.

Once this realization set in, the group fell silent once more, each person pondering the situation.

And as they stood in silence, in the distance…

A rumbling sound continued to grow louder, dust swirling in the air, as if the entire sky was about to be swallowed up by the chaos.

A terrifying aura that could nearly suffocate the soul grew ever stronger.

From a distance, it seemed as though the very heavens and earth were being swept up by this force.

The ground shook violently.

Even the ten Holy Domain powerhouses felt their hearts racing in response.

These top-tier figures of the kingdom now felt their lips drying out, their bodies trembling.

They wanted to act, but they didn’t dare to.

A terrifying aura had already enveloped them completely.

If they dared to move, the next moment could be their last.

Cold sweat beaded on their foreheads as they exchanged nervous glances, unsure of what to do.

Back at the city walls.

The remaining people felt their scalps tingle, staring wide-eyed at the scene unfolding in the distance.

Even those who hadn’t yet been affected by the chaos on the way back from the frontlines were scrambling in a panic to return to the safety of the city.

“Gulp!”

Isabelle unconsciously swallowed as she looked at the terrifying sight in the distance, then turned to glance at Thor. She opened her mouth to speak, but at that moment, she didn’t know what to say.
