Chapter 20: Building the Territory

Under Thor’s command, the serfs began working swiftly, and soon after, he called the knights to gather.

With over 400 knights in his squad, Thor knew they were a valuable labor force, and he had no intention of wasting it.

For many nobles, the knight squad served purely as a military force, but for Thor, using a group with extraordinary abilities solely for combat was a waste. He recognized that their power meant they could accomplish in construction what thousands of serfs could not.

Thor had already planned how to mobilize them effectively.

As the knights assembled and Thor shared his plan, the reaction was immediate—shock.

Even Steve, his most trusted knight, was stunned.

“Y-you mean it, Sir?” Steve asked, his voice trembling with disbelief.

What he had just heard seemed unbelievable. His lord had offered to teach him the *Fierce Eagle Breathing Technique* and even extended the opportunity to other full knights in the squad.

Steve was so shocked that he wondered if he was dreaming.

In this world, knights represented extraordinary power, and the breathing techniques they practiced were the key to unlocking that power. There were good techniques and bad ones. While the Fierce Eagle Breathing Technique wasn’t as advanced as the Mighty Eagle Breathing Technique, it was still a top-tier method, offering a high chance of progressing to Earth Knight.

An Earth Knight! The second-highest rank, just below the Sky Knights, and one of the most powerful figures in the kingdom.

At that moment, Steve’s mouth felt dry, overwhelmed by the sheer possibility of it.

“Of course, it’s true!” Thor responded with conviction. “Steve, I’ve already begun to spread my wings, and I want you and the others to have a brighter future. Knights, great knights, even higher. I want you all to soar across the land and sky.”

“Shall we pursue a grander future together?” Thor’s voice was warm, but his tone was serious.

He wasn’t joking.

For other nobles or families, a high-level breathing technique was a priceless treasure, never to be shared lightly.

But for Thor, it was merely a resource.

Thanks to his daily intelligence system, he always had access to resources. His challenge was how to maximize their value.

So, Thor had decided to create a merit system. Once someone accumulated enough merit, they would be able to learn the *Fierce Eagle Breathing Technique* under the witness of the Goddess of Life, provided they didn’t share it with others.

Steve and Raine would be the first to benefit from this system—Steve being his trusted knight captain and Raine, his most valuable subordinate.

If it weren’t for the fact that he hadn’t received permission to share the *Mighty Eagle Breathing Technique*, Thor would have taught that instead.

As Steve listened to Thor, the realization finally hit him—this wasn’t a dream.

“Yes, Sir! I, Steve, will follow you to the end. Wherever your sword points, that’s where I shall go!”

“By the Goddess of Life, I swear eternal loyalty to you.”

Steve knelt on one knee, offering Thor the highest honor a knight could give.

Thor accepted the gesture without hesitation.

News of this spread quickly throughout the knight squad.

In no time, the entire group was buzzing with excitement.

While only Steve and Raine were being taught the *Fierce Eagle Breathing Technique* initially, the other knights knew they, too, would have the opportunity to learn it if they earned enough merit. Even the squire knights were promised a chance to learn it if they became full knights.

This news hit the knights like a bombshell.

Excitement and enthusiasm surged through the squad, and loyalty to Thor reached an all-time high.

The *Fierce Eagle Breathing Technique* was highly coveted. Even within the Dressrosa family, only a few individuals had been granted the chance to learn it.

No one expected that upon reaching their new territory, their lord would offer them such an incredible opportunity.

Even the mere possibility of learning the technique was enough to send the knights into a frenzy of anticipation and devotion.

And so, when Thor began issuing orders for the construction of the territory, there were no complaints.

Everyone, from full knights to squires, threw themselves into the work with vigor.

With the help of over 400 knights—especially the 36 full knights—the pace of construction accelerated dramatically.

Each squire knight could work like a heavy machine, and the full knights’ contributions far surpassed that of ordinary laborers.

In less than three days, the camp had already taken shape.

Wooden houses were erected, and the entire camp was enclosed by a fence built by the serfs.

At the center of the camp, the foundation of a castle had been laid.

At the current pace, the castle would be completed within two weeks, and the surrounding structures would be finished as well.

This progress was thanks to the knights. If the construction had been left to the serfs alone, it would have taken six months to reach this stage.

By that time, it would be too late to plant crops for the year.

In fact, most pioneer knights saw little to no output in their first and even second years, relying on supplies from Loren City to survive.

This was why prices in Loren City were so high—demand far outpaced production.

Most goods had to be shipped from other provinces, which drove up the prices.

But Thor was different.

He had prepared meticulously before leaving Dressrosa Castle.

This year, he intended to avoid the fate of most pioneer knights. He wasn’t going to delay planting.

During the month he had spent preparing, Thor had not only read numerous books but had also organized memories from his past life.

His plan was to start reaping rewards as early as this year.

All he had to do now was follow his carefully laid-out plan.

As night fell, another day drew to a close.

Tomorrow would be the fourth day since they arrived.

Given the time of year, it was crucial to begin planting crops soon. Any further delay would jeopardize the harvest.

Inside the humble house, Anna kept glancing at Thor from the corner of her eye.

But at that moment, Thor was too focused on his work to notice her.

A parchment map lay on the stone table in front of him. It was a rough draft of his plan for the territory’s layout.

A large castle stood at the center, surrounded by neatly divided plots for the serfs and designated farming areas.

Upon closer inspection, there were 500 plots in total.

“It’s time to take action,” Thor murmured, his eyes gleaming with determination.

The plan he had been considering was now set.

“Alice!”

“Yes, Master!”

Anna responded in a flustered tone, startled out of her thoughts. She quickly rushed over, her heart racing. She didn’t know when it happened, but calling him “Master” had started to feel natural.

“Prepare me for bed.”

Thor’s tone was calm.

“Yes, Master,” Anna replied softly, bowing her head.
