Chapter 5: An Important Piece of Information
Thor had no idea what his father was preparing for him. After returning to his room, his mind was still restless.
A frontier knight.
He had never expected to be given such a choice, and even more surprising was that he had actually chosen it.
The reason for his decision was clear—it all came down to his cheat ability.
Without it, Thor would never have considered the second option. While the potential rewards were high, the risks were equally great. Without enough strength, a frontier knight was nothing more than cannon fodder.
But with his cheat, everything was different.
Especially his cheat.
The Daily Information System, which refreshed random pieces of information about his surroundings every day, would be an invaluable tool for a frontier knight. If he could find a Life Fruit in a small town, imagine what he could discover in the vast Northern Province. His cheat would give him access to wealth, power, and status, far beyond what staying at Dressrosa Castle could offer. As for the dangers that others faced, the system could help him avoid them.
With such an advantage, the choice was obvious.
Of course, despite making the decision, Thor was still a bit nervous.
After all, being a frontier knight was far more dangerous than staying in the safety of a castle.
After a moment of contemplation, Thor called for his personal servant.
“Peter, go to the library and bring me some books on the Northern Province and frontier knights!”
Thor ordered his servant.
“Yes, Master Thor! I’ll get them right away!”
Peter was visibly shocked but quickly nodded and hurried off.
About half an hour later, a stack of thick books was placed in front of Thor.
This world was similar to the medieval era of his previous life, yet there were key differences. For one, paper was already widespread here. Although the Dressrosa family had only existed for about 300 years, their collection of books was quite substantial.
Even when it came to books about the Northern Province and frontier knights, there were plenty to choose from.
Thor took a deep breath and began to read.
While he had confidence in his cheat, and knew it would be of great help, he still believed it was important to gather as much information as possible.
Night slowly passed.
Stars twinkled outside his window.
Peter brought him dinner, and after eating, Thor returned to his reading.
It wasn’t until the moon hung high in the sky that Thor finally put down the last book.
“Northern Province,” Thor murmured, his eyes full of thought.
After reading through the books, he now had a decent understanding of the Northern Province and the role of a frontier knight.
The Northern Province was an area that the Tulip Kingdom had established in the wild northern lands. The province had only existed for just over twenty years and was still considered new. It was filled with monsters and chaos, requiring a large number of knights and settlers to tame and develop the land. That’s why the position of *frontier knight* had been created.
The kingdom, under the blessing of the Goddess of Life, had offered all frontier knights the chance to earn noble titles. If a frontier knight could establish a town with at least 5,000 people, they would be granted the rank of baron, becoming a recognized noble.
Because of this opportunity, countless knights had flocked to the Northern Province over the past two decades.
But the results had been far from ideal.
In twenty years, only fifty-six barons had been granted titles across the vast Northern Province. By comparison, there were likely over 300 viscounts in the Frost Moon Province alone, and possibly over 1,000 barons. In contrast, the entire Northern Province had only produced fifty-six barons in two decades. Of those, only thirty-six were still alive—the rest had met grim fates.
And these were the ones who had succeeded. The number of knights who had tried and failed, or died, was far greater.
Chaos, disorder, and danger were the most accurate descriptions of the Northern Province.
Even just reading about it made Thor’s heart race with anxiety. He even began to regret his choice.
The danger seemed far too high.
He was only an apprentice knight, with no real strength to rely on. Could he really survive in such an environment?
Just as he was feeling uneasy, the mechanical voice suddenly echoed in his mind again.
Ding, the Daily Information System has been updated!
Would you like to open it?
The voice chimed.
“Open!”
Thor’s eyes lit up. All thoughts of regret vanished as he eagerly activated the system.
The system had provided him with great rewards the first time he used it, and he had been eagerly awaiting the second update.
Finally, it had arrived.
As soon as his words fell, the familiar ripple appeared.
*Buzz!*

The golden characters appeared, revealing ten pieces of information once again.
As before, many of the entries overlapped with the previous day’s information, but a few were new. Thor’s attention focused on the different ones.
“Manure?”
Thor chuckled, shaking his head as he read the tenth entry. In this world, information, especially among the lower classes, was highly restricted, so such discoveries were not surprising.
He continued scanning the list.
But as his eyes moved down, his calm expression suddenly changed. His pupils dilated, and his heart skipped a beat.
“What the—!?”
Thor couldn’t help but blurt out a curse in his previous life’s language.
His gaze was locked onto the fourth piece of information.
His eyes widened in disbelief, and he even rubbed them to make sure he wasn’t seeing things.
But no matter how many times he checked, the words remained the same.
At that moment, Thor felt his mouth go dry.
A Sky Knight.
He had seen something astonishing.
—A future Sky Knight.
Those bold words made his heart nearly stop.
