GROIKTP Chapter 391

This entry is part 311 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

In a crude basement.

The atmosphere was heavy and oppressive.

Several mutants were gathered, all looking dejected.

With Shadowcat gravely injured, the last plan to save the mutants had failed.

What awaited them now was being hunted down by the Sentinel robots until their inevitable death—just like their fallen comrades…

At that moment, Magneto suddenly turned and began walking out.

Everyone was stunned. Professor X called out, “Erik?”

Magneto stopped, his voice heavy with resolve: “Charles, I don’t believe in fate. Mutants will not be wiped out. I will destroy the source of all this evil!”

From the sound of it, Magneto was ready to take on the Sentinels alone!

Such an act was practically suicidal.

Even if Magneto’s powers were extraordinary, his stamina wasn’t. He might destroy one, maybe two waves of Sentinels, but eventually, he’d be overwhelmed and killed.

Professor X opened his mouth to speak, wanting to dissuade him, but found himself unable to say a word.

Compared to accepting fate so passively, Magneto’s defiance and struggle against destiny were undeniably more resilient and determined.

“Count me in!”

Wolverine stepped forward, joining Magneto.

Storm thought for a moment and, without saying a word, followed as well.

It was clear to everyone: once they left, there would be no coming back.

In an instant, the atmosphere became filled with a sense of tragic heroism…

Just then, clapping came from the side.

“Clap! Clap!”

It was Chen Ye, applauding.

“Bravery is commendable, but throwing yourselves to certain death is a bit foolish, don’t you think?” Chen Ye said with a smile.

Hearing this, many of them turned to glare angrily at Chen Ye.

“Snikt!”

Wolverine unsheathed his claws, glaring menacingly at Chen Ye, as if ready to fight.

“Kid, take back what you just said!”

Chen Ye, unbothered by Wolverine’s threat, shrugged. “I’m just stating a fact. Why should I take it back?”

“What gives you the right to criticize them?” Blink snapped, visibly angry.

At this moment, Blink was particularly disgusted by Chen Ye.

This guy was too afraid to risk his own life, yet he dared to make such cynical remarks about those willing to sacrifice themselves. It was infuriating…

Magneto, however, remained calm as he stared intently at Chen Ye. “Young man, do you have a better plan?”

Chen Ye spoke calmly. “Isn’t your plan to go back in time and prevent the birth of the Sentinels? I don’t know how successful your method of sending consciousness back through time would be, but it’s obvious that sending a person physically back in time would have a much higher success rate.”

Everyone was stunned by his words.

Professor X immediately asked, “Chen, do you have a way to travel through time?”

“Of course!” Chen Ye nodded confidently.

Everyone was both surprised and delighted.

“Why didn’t you say so earlier?” Storm asked, looking at Chen Ye in amazement.

“You didn’t ask!” Chen Ye replied, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Storm was momentarily speechless, then couldn’t help but laugh.

Wolverine, growing impatient, said, “Then what are we waiting for? Chen, start the time travel! I miss the old beer!”

“Logan!” Chen Ye wiggled a finger at him. “You owe me an apology first.”

“Alright, fine! I apologize for my rude behavior earlier.”

Wolverine, thick-skinned as ever, apologized quickly.

Blink, however, was feeling awkward…

After all, she had also made sarcastic remarks about Chen Ye earlier.

After much hesitation, Blink stammered, “I’m sorry, Mr. Chen, I…”

Chen Ye waved his hand, interrupting her.

To be honest, he didn’t care much about what Blink thought of him.

“Logan’s apology is more than enough,” Chen Ye said with a smile.

Wolverine’s face darkened upon hearing this!

This guy was clearly messing with him!

“You…”

But afraid of angering Chen Ye, Wolverine swallowed the rest of his words.

“Chen, do you really have a way to go back in time?” Magneto asked, still skeptical.

“Of course!”

Chen Ye glanced around and said, “I have a time-exchange machine that can send someone to the past or the future, but it requires a massive amount of power. Clearly, this place doesn’t meet the conditions.”

Everyone exchanged glances, hearing about such a machine for the first time.

“A large amount of power…” Professor X pondered for a moment before saying, “I know of an abandoned thermal power plant. It should still be operational.”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” Wolverine was visibly eager to leave, as if he couldn’t stand another minute in this post-apocalyptic world.

Half an hour later.

They arrived at a coastal area by plane.

On the water stood an abandoned thermal power plant.

“Professor, are you sure it can still be started?” Wolverine asked with a frown.

The plant looked ancient, covered in dust, clearly abandoned for a long time.

Thermal plants had been obsolete for a while, replaced by nuclear power. This one seemed like something from the previous century.

It was hard not to doubt whether it could still function.

“We won’t know unless we try,” Professor X said.

Storm then landed the plane on an empty space beside the plant.

“Chen, it’s up to you now!” Wolverine said.

Everyone turned their eyes to Chen Ye, curious to see what his time-exchange machine was all about.

Chen Ye smiled and then…

Released Skynet!

When Skynet, a small girl-like figure, suddenly appeared, everyone was startled, staring at her in shock.

“Phew! Master, you finally let me out… Where is this place?”

Skynet, the little girl, looked around and saw the group of “uncles and aunts” staring at her. She asked in confusion, “Master, who are they?”

“Oh my God!” Storm looked as if she’d seen a ghost. “Where did she come from?”

“I’d like to know that too!”

Blink looked from Chen Ye to Skynet, her face filled with disbelief…

“Everyone!” Chen Ye clapped his hands to get their attention. “Allow me to introduce her. This is Skynet—my… sister!”

Hearing the introduction, Skynet’s eyes lit up with joy. She looked at Chen Ye, her eyes turning into crescent moons as she smiled.

“Master… brother!”

Chen Ye patted her head and pointed to a pile of materials nearby. “I need a time-exchange machine. The materials are all here. How long will it take?”

Skynet glanced at the materials and immediately responded, “Ten hours, brother!”

“Good! Get started, then. Time is of the essence.”

“Okay, brother!”

“You don’t have to keep calling me brother.”

“Got it, brother!”

“…”

Skynet, with human-like intelligence and emotions, seemed overjoyed to be acknowledged as human by Chen Ye.

And so, Skynet got to work.

As an AI with a liquid metal robotic body, she could simulate all sorts of machinery, forge materials, and alter their structure and shape with ease.

She could build the time-exchange machine on her own.

When everyone saw Skynet’s right arm transform into a blowtorch, melting a block of metal in mere moments, they were dumbfounded.

“Chen, your… sister, what exactly is she?” Wolverine asked, visibly shaken.

Chen Ye didn’t bother explaining Skynet’s origin. “That’s not important. You should focus on getting the power plant running in the next ten hours!”

“I’m afraid the next ten hours are going to be very difficult…” Professor X sighed.

Hearing this, everyone’s expressions grew solemn.

Blink, noticing Chen Ye’s confusion, quietly explained, “The Sentinels can sense the presence of mutants from a distance. With so many of us here, it won’t take long before they find us.”

Chen Ye suddenly understood.

No wonder, in the original storyline, the “Days of Future Past” plan had barely begun before the Sentinel army showed up, nearly wiping out all the mutants!

So the Sentinels had such a powerful ability!

Chen Ye couldn’t help but marvel at the genius who invented the Sentinels.

“Charles, you and the others handle getting the plant operational. I’ll take care of the defense,” Magneto said.

Among the remaining mutants, his offensive capabilities were the strongest, making him the most qualified to say this.

But Chen Ye merely smiled as he quietly took out his trident.

The sea…

Was his battlefield!
