GROIKTP Chapter 585

This entry is part 508 of 534 in the series Global Reincarnation: Only i Know the Plot

[TN : Warning! this chapter contain cringeworthy stuff…]

A few minutes later.

“ROAR!”

With a sorrowful howl, Otachi’s massive body collapsed into the sea, dead at Chen Ye’s hands.

“Ding! You have killed the kaiju. Current mission progress: 3/1!”

Hearing the system notification, Chen Ye remained expressionless.

His eyes shifted to the two rings on his left hand.

One was the Ring of Thor, the other the Ring of Poseidon.

Just like in the previous multiplayer instance, due to the restriction on special items, even though both rings were already on his fingers, they remained unusable.

Chen Ye had tried earlier to use the Ring of Poseidon to control the seawater, but it was ineffective.

At this moment, these rings were nothing more than decorative jewelry on his hands.

However, for Chen Ye, not having the abilities of these rings didn’t matter much.

With his current strength, even the strongest Level 5 kaiju would still be nothing more than a weakling before him.

After finishing off Otachi, the hunting session temporarily came to an end.

Chen Ye turned and flew toward the human military base.

He flew deliberately slow to give the higher-ups there enough time to react.

As Chen Ye flew over the city, he immediately drew the attention of countless people.

“He destroyed the kaiju! He’s our hero!”

Someone shouted, and soon the crowd erupted into waves of cheers.

Thousands surged toward Chen Ye, raising their hands as if welcoming their true savior.

The terms “Great Hero” and “Savior” were thrown in his direction as if they belonged to him.

Within moments, several streets were completely jam-packed with people.

Most of them were the same who had just been fleeing in terror from the kaiju attack.

Even though they had been rescued, their hearts were still filled with fear and insecurity, desperately seeking a strong figure to hold onto.

Chen Ye’s arrival made him the perfect candidate to be that figure.

He had just displayed overwhelming power, defeated the kaiju, and saved countless lives.

As a result, many who had nearly lost hope now placed their trust in him.

Some people even knelt on the ground, bowing to him, as if he truly were a divine savior.

At this moment, Chen Ye hovered above, gazing down at the masses like a god descending to the mortal world.

If it weren’t for the work clothes he was still wearing, which slightly undermined the image, he could’ve easily claimed to be a deity, and no one would dare refute it.

Looking down at the feverish crowd, Chen Ye gave a timely smile, displaying a gentle, benevolent expression.

Being worshiped as a savior wasn’t necessarily a bad thing for him.

Afterward, Chen Ye landed gently on the ground, smiling as he warmly interacted with the people below.

He personally lifted those who had knelt to worship him, offering them encouraging words, resembling a politician engaged in a well-rehearsed PR stunt.

Except his charisma at the moment was far beyond what any politician could muster.

Chen Ye did this intentionally, showing that he was approachable and extending goodwill to the humans around him.

He knew that many of the people in power were likely observing him from the shadows.

And his actions quickly won over countless hearts.

More and more people gathered around him, chanting his name, looking at him with a fervor akin to how one might gaze upon a spiritual leader.

At this point, even the slightest disturbance could easily result in a stampede.

“Savior, thank you for saving us…”

“Hero, we need you…”

“Please kill all those awful kaiju! They’ve destroyed our homes…”

Faced with these mundane questions, Chen Ye merely smiled without saying a word, allowing the crowd to surround him.

At that moment, a delicate-looking little white girl, about eight or nine years old, squeezed through the crowd and stood before Chen Ye.

“Are you a god from the heavens? Did God send you to save us?”

After asking her question, the little girl looked at Chen Ye with a hopeful expression.

Others in the crowd also gazed at him expectantly, waiting for his response.

Under the watchful eyes of the masses, Chen Ye finally spoke.

“I’m sorry, but I don’t know God!”

He gently patted the little girl’s head, then with a smile addressed the crowd, “If you insist on seeing me as a god, then consider me a god from the East, from the land of China!”

His words sent a ripple through the crowd.

Those who believed in God in the West showed signs of disappointment.

However, the black-haired, black-eyed people from the East became instantly excited, as if they had been injected with adrenaline.

“Did you hear that? He personally admitted he’s a god!”

“And he’s a god from our homeland, China…”

“Not God… No, it’s not God, it’s the Jade Emperor! Thank you, Jade Emperor, for sending a true deity down to us!”

Some Westerners were shaken by their beliefs, and began asking the people of Asian descent nearby.

“Hey, buddy, does your… Jade Emperor religion accept new members?”

“Sorry, sir, I’m not Chinese, I’m from the Island Nation…”

“What? Then what the hell are you doing here? You damn idiot!”

Ignoring the discussions around him, Chen Ye continued to smile as he walked forward.

Seeing him approach, the crowd quickly parted to make way for him.

Just then, a stone suddenly flew from the crowd, hitting Chen Ye hard.

*THUNK!*

The sound was loud.

Judging by the impact, the throw had been forceful.

If it had been an ordinary person, they would have been injured for sure.

Of course, Chen Ye was completely unscathed.

Even so, the surrounding people were shocked.

No one could believe that in a moment like this, someone dared to attack their “godly savior.”

Was this fool not afraid of provoking divine wrath?

“Who was that?!”

“Who’s the idiot? Have they lost their mind?”

“Find the person, quickly!”

The crowd was furious, everyone shouting and condemning the attacker.

They had finally found hope for survival and wouldn’t let anyone ruin it.

Chen Ye glanced down at the stone, then fixed his gaze on a woman in the crowd.

The smile on his face began to fade…

Though the stone hadn’t hurt him in the slightest—his skin alone was more than enough to resist such an attack—Chen Ye had no intention of forgiving this woman.

The surrounding people followed Chen Ye’s gaze and quickly identified the culprit, glaring at her with hostility.

The woman wasn’t very old but seemed bold, striding toward Chen Ye without flinching.

Before anyone could say a word, she yelled at Chen Ye.

“What kind of lousy god are you? If you can defeat the kaiju, why didn’t you show up sooner? My little Gray was trampled to death by those monsters!!”

Her sharp tone was full of accusation directed at Chen Ye.

“Oh, my little Gray, it’s all because Mommy didn’t protect you…” she sobbed.

The woman then burst into tears, crying uncontrollably.

Seeing her crying so sorrowfully, the crowd didn’t know what to say.

After all, in this kaiju invasion, so many unfortunate people had perished in the destruction wrought by the monsters…

Many present had permanently lost loved ones in the disaster.

Just as everyone was empathizing with the woman’s grief, a voice full of anger suddenly erupted from the crowd:

“Yang Li, you are absolutely shameless! So many people here have lost family members, and no one’s blaming the Savior. You lost just a pet dog, and now you’re accusing the Savior of not showing up sooner?”

As soon as the person finished speaking, the crowd erupted in an uproar.

So it turns out, the “Huihui” she had been talking about was just a pet dog?

Blaming the man who just saved countless lives over a pet?

How could someone be so selfish and shameless…

Furious glares locked onto the woman named “Yang Li.”

Yet, despite the growing rage around her, the woman didn’t seem afraid at all. Instead, she self-righteously declared, “What’s wrong with it being a pet dog? To me, Huihui was family, my child. You disgusting men aren’t even worth a dog!”

Her words were like pouring gasoline on the fire.

If it weren’t for Chen Ye’s presence, the crowd might have already surged forward and beaten the woman to death.

At this point, several people in the crowd recognized who the woman was.

She had some notoriety on the internet—infamous, rather. She was one of those people who made a living by bashing men and fueling division between the sexes.

Finally, Chen Ye spoke.

He glanced at the crowd, still smiling. “The reason I didn’t show up earlier is that the portal to this world had only just opened.”

“And as for you…”

His gaze shifted toward the woman, and his expression turned cold.

He seemed like he was about to say something, but then thought better of it, deciding it wasn’t worth his time.

Not a word more.

His telekinesis activated.

The woman suddenly found herself unable to breathe, unable even to scream.

Pain and panic spread across her face as she reached out, grabbing the arm of a man next to her, seemingly pleading for help. The man quickly jerked away in disgust…

In less than a minute, she suffocated to death, collapsing on the ground with a face twisted in anguish, unable to rest in peace.

“Serves her right,” someone muttered quietly in the crowd.

More people stared at the woman’s lifeless body, shivering with fear.

This was exactly the effect Chen Ye wanted.

Through this act, he made it clear—challenge him, and there would be no mercy.

Without another word, Chen Ye took to the sky again, flying toward the military base.

Meanwhile, in a massive conference room.

The true leaders of humanity had gathered, silently watching the wall-mounted display.

The screen, apparently showing security footage, was replaying the scene from just moments before, of the woman who had met her untimely death on the street.

Clearly, the entire incident had been caught on camera, and these leaders had witnessed it all.

At this moment, the sight of the woman’s corpse weighed heavily on everyone in the room.

The atmosphere in the conference room was tense and somber.

After a long silence, someone finally spoke.

“It seems that our Savior is not someone who tolerates any form of offense…”
