- MWM Chapter 166
“A god? A coward hiding in the back, and you dare call yourself a god? If you’ve got the guts, come and face me one-on-one!”
Watching the Destroyer charge at him, Leo provocatively beckoned with his finger at Loki, who was hiding behind it.
He wanted to anger Loki into coming forward and fighting him directly, so he could deal with the Destroyer by taking Loki out.
However, Loki wasn’t easily fooled. Unlike Thor, he never liked to fight personally unless absolutely necessary and always avoided direct confrontations. He preferred schemes and sneak attacks.
“A mere mortal is not worthy of me personally taking action.”
Loki sneered, standing still and unmoving.
Faced with this obviously magical and formidable human, Loki wasn’t about to take the bait and risk himself in a direct fight.
Seeing that Loki wasn’t falling for it and that the Destroyer was closing in fast, Leo shouted:
“Second form, activate! Eight Gates, Gate of Opening, Gate of Rest, Gate of Life, Gate of Pain—open!”
Instantly, his body swelled to over two meters tall, with streams of blue chakra energy flowing over his skin.
With his strong physical abilities and knowledge of human meridians and acupoints, Leo had found learning the Eight Gates Release Formation surprisingly easy, and now he could open up to the fourth gate.
“Xingyi—Cannon Fist!”
In a flash, Leo’s body seemed to transform into a cannonball, speeding towards the Destroyer and striking it right between the legs.
A powerful explosion of force sent the nine-meter-tall Destroyer flying backward seven or eight meters, landing right in front of Loki again.
“What incredible strength!”
Loki, who was controlling the Destroyer, suddenly widened his eyes. To think that this mere mortal could strike the Destroyer and send it flying! Such terrifying strength was unexpected.
Fortunately, the Destroyer wasn’t a living being and felt no pain. Moreover, its Uru metal body was incredibly durable. Though it had been knocked back, it remained undamaged.
It stood up again, its faceplate opening, releasing a powerful burst of flames straight toward Leo.
“You think you’re the only one who can do that?”
Leo quickly formed hand seals:
“Water Style: Water Formation Wall!”
A thick jet of water shot from his mouth like a cannon, colliding with the flames spewing from the Destroyer’s mouth.
The flames from the Destroyer’s mouth were not ordinary; fed by its ample internal energy, the flames grew stronger, quickly creating a large cloud of steam.
“The Destroyer is the ultimate indestructible weapon; its flames can annihilate everything. You might as well give up!”
Though the dense steam obscured the view of both the Destroyer and Leo, Loki could vaguely see the red flames overpowering the water, advancing steadily. It wouldn’t be long before they overwhelmed this formidable mortal.
Meanwhile, Thor, without Mjölnir and not having regained his divine power, was leading the Warriors Three and Lady Sif but was struggling against Laufey and the Frost Giants.
Despite how easily Laufey had been killed by his son Loki in the original story, one might think he was weak. In reality, a fully powered Laufey had blinded Odin in one eye during their battles and had frozen the entirety of Jotunheim, showcasing his immense strength.
The reason Loki defeated him so easily was partly because Laufey had lost the Casket of Ancient Winters, his power source, significantly weakening him—much like how the Fire Demon Surtur, without the Eternal Flame, was easily defeated by Thor.
Secondly, Laufey had been focused entirely on Odin at the time, never expecting Loki to betray him, and thus took a full-force blow from the Gungnir without any defenses.
Remember, the Gungnir is Odin’s weapon and contains his divine power. The attack Loki launched wasn’t his own but rather an attack from the spear itself.
Now, with Laufey fighting at full strength, his power, speed, and occasional frost abilities made him a formidable opponent.
Luckily, the supposedly unconscious Heimdall had noticed what was happening outside and joined the fight with his great sword, just barely managing to hold off Laufey and the Frost Giants’ assault.
“Boom!”
With a loud noise, the water column vanished completely, and the Destroyer’s flames pierced through the figure in the steam, blasting onto the Bifrost.
“This is divine retribution! The fate of those who oppose me, the King of Asgard!”
Loki laughed heartily at the sight.
“Expelliarmus!”
Just then, a voice sounded behind him, and his body shuddered as the Gungnir flew out of his hand, landing on the ground.
It turned out that when the steam had risen earlier, Leo had used a Shadow Clone to substitute for his real body. The real Leo, now invisible thanks to the Disillusionment Charm, had sneaked up beside Loki.
His plan was always to take out Loki, the controller, rather than face the indestructible and troublesome Destroyer head-on.
If he weren’t concerned that Odin might be watching the situation from afar, he might have used the Killing Curse instead of the Disarming Charm to finish off Loki.
After all, leaving someone like Loki alive only meant more trouble, as he always seemed to stir up problems whenever he had the chance.
He also considered using the Stunning Spell or the Full Body-Bind Curse, but since Loki was also a sorcerer skilled in illusions, his mental strength was likely quite high, making the Stunning Spell ineffective.
As a descendant of the Frost Giants, even though he was a runt, his physical strength was still several times that of a human, and the Full Body-Bind Curse probably wouldn’t hold him.
So, the Disarming Charm was the best choice, first disarming Loki of the powerful Gungnir.
Loki used the Gungnir to open the vault and release the Destroyer; maybe disarming him would also strip him of his control over the Destroyer.
“How is this possible!”
Loki’s pupils contracted when he saw Leo behind him. He immediately conjured two daggers and charged forward.
Seeing Loki charge, Leo frowned, not because he feared close combat but because he realized that even with the Gungnir knocked out of Loki’s hands, the Destroyer hadn’t stopped moving.
Instead, it turned around, its back becoming its front, and charged at him again.
“It seems Loki has pre-set the attack program, which needs to be manually deactivated to stop its actions.”
After a quick analysis, Leo ignored the two daggers aiming for his waist, swung his wand, and incanted:
“Accio!”
Instantly, the Gungnir that had been knocked away flew back into his hand.
Loki’s daggers, meanwhile, passed right through Leo’s body without causing any harm.
“Damn it!”
Less than a meter away from the Gungnir, Loki’s true form appeared, angrily punching the Bifrost.
Right after the spear was disarmed, Loki had used an illusion to create a false image of himself attacking Leo, drawing his attention while he, invisible, went to retrieve the spear.
But he hadn’t expected Leo to see through his illusion.
