MWM Chapter 278

This entry is part 279 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“There’s actually nothing particularly important to explain.”

Because Jack was managing the company, Leo usually didn’t bother with it, and even if he were absent for a year or two, it wouldn’t cause any issues.

At the base, Uncle Li was in charge, so that was also no problem.

And if there really were any issues, the group led by Xiao San, Xiao Liu, and Xiao Wu—who had all been enhanced and injected with the Extremis virus—weren’t to be trifled with. Plus, they had just recruited the Inhumans.

After making all the necessary calls, the adjustments to the octopus spaceship were complete.

“Let’s go!”

After giving Uncle Li some final instructions, Leo pulled Wanda along and boarded the spaceship.

By now, Gamora, clad in green, was already seated in the pilot’s seat, flicking the control switches in front of her.

“The ship will take off in three minutes. You’d better sit in the back and fasten your seatbelts.”

Next to her, Nebula sat in the co-pilot seat, inserting her metallic fingers into a slot as she uploaded the galactic star map coordinates.

Leo, hearing this, formed a hand seal, and a white cloud instantly lifted him and the Scarlet Witch to the best viewing spot at the front of the glass canopy.

“You don’t have to worry about us; just focus on piloting the ship.”

With the strength he and Wanda possessed, even if the spaceship disintegrated mid-air, they wouldn’t be in danger. At worst, they’d just fly out on their own using sword flight.

Seeing this, Gamora didn’t waste any more words and directly pressed the start button, pulling the throttle to full.

Above the Sokovia science lab, the ceiling slowly opened. Eight streams of fire burst from the octopus spaceship as it shot into the sky, disappearing in an instant.

“From this view, Earth looks truly beautiful!”

Inside the ship, Wanda couldn’t help but exclaim as Earth became smaller and smaller through the glass.

Beside her, Leo nodded in agreement.

Although scenes of space could often be seen on phones and TV, the feeling and awe of seeing it firsthand, leaving Earth behind, were entirely different.

Especially for Leo, who, unlike Wanda, wasn’t just admiring the view—he was thinking about the powerful beings in this universe.

Even with his current strength, seeing the sky and Earth still made him feel small.

Those like Eternity, representing the essence of the universe itself, the Celestials who created suns and planets, and the gods who devoured worlds or created their own dimensional spaces—how unimaginably powerful they must be.

In comparison, his own power still seemed vastly inferior.

“Nebula, how long until we reach Xandar?”

“If all goes well, at this ship’s speed, it’ll take about ten days to reach the nearest wormhole from Earth. After that, another five days to the next wormhole, and ten more days through that one to reach Xandar.

The main issue is that this ship’s performance is too poor, much slower than standard ships.”

Nebula couldn’t help but complain as she gave her answer.

She couldn’t help it. Although her chip contained some spaceship design information, she wasn’t a professional. Like her sister Gamora, her expertise lay in espionage and assassination.

Thus, she wasn’t the primary designer of the ship. The main contributors were Ivan and the other human scientists.

Many spaceship parts and equipment that could easily be bought in the universe simply didn’t exist on Earth. Ivan and the others had to either search for substitutes based on Nebula’s descriptions or attempt to replicate them.

In the end, the ship was functional, but its performance was significantly lacking.

“Twenty-five days? That’s not too bad, actually.”

Leo nodded. He had initially thought it would take at least one or two months.

……

Twenty-two days later, after two wormhole jumps, they were only three days away from their destination, Xandar.

By this time, Leo had lost interest in the outer space scenery. He was currently in his room with Wanda, engaged in dual cultivation.

That’s how interstellar travel was—everything felt awe-inspiring at first, but if you traveled too long without encountering any life-bearing planets, it started to get dull.

Most of the time, outer space looked pretty much the same.

So, besides their daily dual cultivation, they spent time playing cards and chatting with the others.

As time passed, their relationships deepened. What started as mutual use had now evolved into a tentative friendship.

After finishing their dual cultivation session, Leo and Wanda walked out of the room, both feeling refreshed. Suddenly, Leo paused and smiled slightly.

“Finally, the upgrade is complete.”

It turned out that he had just heard the notification that the system panel upgrade was finished.

He asked Wanda to join Gamora and the others while he returned to the room to check his newly upgraded system panel.

“I can control time now!”

After a moment of checking, Leo finally understood all the new features the upgrade had brought.

In general, there weren’t many significant changes, but two time-control abilities had been added.

The first ability allowed him to freely control the amount of time he spent in a small world.

Previously, if he had accumulated a year or two’s worth of time, he would have to use it all up when entering a small world. When he returned to the main world, he would have no time left.

But now, things were different. Before entering a small world, he could pre-set the amount of time he wanted to use.

For example, if he currently had a year and a half of small-world time, he could choose to spend two months in any given world. When he returned, he would still have one year and four months remaining.

If he wanted, he could even split that year and a half to visit three different small worlds consecutively.

The benefit of this was that if he needed to take care of something in a small world, he wouldn’t have to worry as much about running out of time—he could allocate just enough without affecting his next trip.

For example, previously, he had been hesitant to visit other small worlds because he was saving up time to visit the world of *Zu Mountain*. But now, in similar situations, he could just use a little time and still handle things.

The second ability, also related to time control, was different from the first. This one allowed him to control the time within the small worlds.

According to the panel’s explanation, every time he left the main world, the system would lock in a time point using the laws of time. When he returned from the small world, it would still be the same moment in the main world.

That’s why people in the main world always felt like Leo had never left.

The same principle applied to small worlds. Every time Leo entered one, he returned to the exact moment he had left, so no one there would feel like he had been gone.

Now, this power was in Leo’s hands.

Whether in the main world or small worlds, he could choose whether or not to lock in the time point when he left.
