MWM Chapter 371

This entry is part 372 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“They’ve managed to hold on this long without being defeated mostly due to Albiore of Cepheus’ incredible strength, along with Crystal Saint and Aquila Saint providing support and interference. Even so, they’ve been on the defensive the entire time.”

“Heal to full!”

After healing Seiya and the others one by one,  Leo led them to Albiore’s side.

“Stop, Milo! Aphrodite has already been defeated!”

Milo stepped back, looking at  Leo in disbelief as he saw him wearing the Sagittarius Gold Cloth.

“How are you wearing the Sagittarius Cloth?”

“Milo, don’t you understand yet? This Cloth was granted to me by Athena herself. We are the ones protecting the true Athena, not the Pope!”  Leo shouted.

Unlike Aphrodite, Milo was a Saint who truly devoted his heart to Athena. He had simply been deceived by Saga, believing that Athena was still within the Sanctuary.

If he could be made to see the truth, there was a strong chance he would side with them.

Hearing this, Milo froze, murmuring, “That’s impossible… how could the Pope be a traitor?”

During his battle with Albiore and the others, Milo had heard this so-called “truth,” but he believed it was just a fabrication by the traitors. He couldn’t believe that Saori Kido was Athena.

Despite some of the Pope’s questionable actions, Milo trusted the Pope more than the rebels.

However, seeing  Leo wearing the Sagittarius Gold Cloth left him confused.

Aiolos had died long ago, and the Pope wouldn’t have granted the Cloth to a traitor. That only left the possibility that Athena had given it—or perhaps Aiolos hadn’t died after all?

“Milo, you know you can’t win in this situation. If I wanted to kill you, I could have shot an arrow during your battle with Albiore right after I defeated Aphrodite.

But I didn’t do that because I know you’ve been misled by the Pope. Deep down, you’re still a Saint who protects Athena,”  Leo urged.

If he could convince Milo to join them, it would be far better than fighting.

“I’m sorry, I still can’t believe your words.”

Milo clenched his fists, his expression conflicted.

 Leo didn’t give up.

“Milo, if you don’t believe me, then come with us to see the real Athena. If you’re still not convinced after that, we can fight then.”

“No, I won’t go with you to verify anything. If she truly is Athena, she can come to the Sanctuary herself!”

After a moment of hesitation, Milo shook his head and turned away, leaving.

If he went and found that Athena was a fraud, it would be fine—at worst, he would have to fight a still-living Aiolos, and even if he died, he’d take a few down with him.

But if Athena turned out to be real and the Pope was the traitor, that would be a disaster. He would have to join Athena, meaning he’d be fighting against the Pope and other Gold Saints. Even if they won, it would be a Pyrrhic victory, leaving them weakened before the impending Holy War.

What’s more, he didn’t know how many Gold Saints were truly deceived by the Pope and how many had actually turned traitor.

Thus, he chose to return to the Sanctuary, not to confront the Pope, but to secretly investigate and uncover the truth.

That way, if the Pope really was a traitor and Athena came to the Sanctuary, Milo could determine who was friend and who was foe, minimizing casualties and quickly ending the rebellion.

“Well, at least he’s leaning toward our side.”

Watching Milo leave,  Leo felt some regret but didn’t try to stop him.

Convincing the Gold Saints to believe that a human girl in another country was the real Athena, rather than trusting the Pope, was always going to be a difficult task.

But since Milo had chosen not to fight them anymore, it meant that deep down, he was likely 60-70% convinced.

Otherwise, a proud Gold Saint would never retreat, even if it meant fighting all of them alone, knowing it would lead to his death.

“Let’s go. I’ll take you back to the villa, and then I’ll fetch Shiryu.”

Once Milo had left,  Leo pulled out his teleportation scroll.

The pages fluttered, and everyone, except for the two traitors from Andromeda Island lying on the ground, was instantly transported to the Kido family villa.

After settling in Albiore and the others,  Leo used his *Flying Thunder God* technique to teleport to Mount Five Peaks, where Shiryu was located.

“What a powerful Cosmo!”

As soon as he arrived,  Leo immediately sensed three incredibly strong Cosmos in a tense standoff.

” Leo, you’re here,” Shiryu said, his eyes lighting up as he leaned on Shunrei and Kiki for support.

Leo healed Shiryu’s injuries with a healing spell and asked, “What’s going on?”

“The Pope sent a Gold Saint to assassinate my master.”

Shiryu quickly explained the situation.

It turned out that his master, Dohko, was actually one of the twelve Gold Saints, the Libra Saint.

Because Dohko had refused to follow the Pope’s commands, the Pope had sent another Gold Saint, Cancer Deathmask, to kill him.

When Shiryu tried to intervene, Deathmask easily defeated him with a single finger.

It was only thanks to Aries Mu, who had come to repair Shiryu’s Cloth, that Deathmask paused his attack.

After hearing Shiryu’s explanation,  Leo understood the situation.

Saga must have feared Dohko’s seniority and influence among the Gold Saints, especially since Dohko refused to obey his orders. So, he had sent Deathmask, one of his trusted followers with space manipulation abilities, to kill Dohko at Mount Five Peaks.

Saga and Deathmask likely assumed that after living for over two hundred years, Dohko had grown weak and was no longer a serious threat.

Luckily, Mu’s timely arrival had prevented Deathmask from acting recklessly.

“It seems we’ll have to withdraw for now.”

Deathmask wasn’t concerned about  Leo’s arrival. To him, a man with a Cosmo barely at the Silver Saint level wasn’t worth his attention.

The only reason Deathmask chose to leave was because he knew he had no chance of winning if he fought two Gold Saints at once.

Unlike most other Gold Saints, who fought with pride and honor, Deathmask preferred to target weaker opponents. He always analyzed his opponent’s strength and abilities before engaging, and if he couldn’t win, he would retreat immediately.

He had confidence in defeating the aged Dohko, but with Mu’s presence, he knew the odds weren’t in his favor.

So, he chose to retreat.

“Leaving now? That’s not up to you!”

Leo pulled out his *Nine Sons Demonic Heaven Yin Banner*, sealing off the space around Mount Five Peaks. Then, he donned the Sagittarius Gold Cloth once more.
