- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 384
Passing through the city, they arrived at a massive structure where their ship slowly landed. This was the true base of the High Evolutionary on Counter-Earth, where he conducted his biological research and experiments.
Guarding the building was a group of strong humanoid creatures, part machine and part animal, wielding energy weapons.
After disembarking from the ship, Leo and the group, escorted by these modified creatures, walked through several laboratories and corridors, eventually arriving in a large hall inside the massive structure.
There, they finally met the High Evolutionary, dressed in human skin.
“89P13, after all these years of running, why have you decided to come to me now? Is it because you think you can finally get your revenge?” The High Evolutionary stood on a platform high above the hall, looking down at Rocket with disdain.
Years ago, after realizing that Rocket’s intelligence surpassed his own, the High Evolutionary had become psychologically twisted, wanting to kill Rocket and take his brain for further study. However, Rocket had managed to escape.
After hunting him for years without success, Rocket now presenting himself so willingly was suspicious. The High Evolutionary didn’t believe that the most perfect being he had ever created would be foolish enough to walk into a death trap, nor did he think Rocket had come back out of some fatherly nostalgia.
“Lyla, Teefs, Floor—I’m here to avenge you!” Rocket shouted as he leaped onto Groot’s shoulder, pulling out a massive cosmic energy Gatling gun from his bag, which Leo had modified with the Undetectable Extension Charm.
He aimed it at the High Evolutionary and unleashed a relentless barrage of energy bullets, determined to turn him into Swiss cheese.
Unfortunately, with a simple wave of his hand, the High Evolutionary conjured an invisible telekinetic shield that blocked all the incoming bullets.
“89P13, did you really think you could harm me now? Do you think bringing a few friends along will help you get your revenge?” A mocking smile spread across his face.
“I’ll show you the difference between us. I’ll show you true despair. Today, your friends will meet the same fate as your previous companions, dying by my hand, and I will reclaim your brain.”
With a wave of his hand, the metal doors on both sides of the hall opened, and various genetically modified creatures, armed with advanced energy weapons, poured out.
Then, from behind them, three terrifying monsters, over 20 meters tall and resembling octopuses with sharp, spiked mouths, crawled forward with deafening roars.
Finally, the ceiling of the hall retracted, revealing a sky filled with Sovereign Empire’s remotely controlled ships, their weapons all aimed directly at Rocket and his companions below.
“Rocket, are you sure this is the real High Evolutionary?” Leo asked calmly, showing no sign of tension despite the overwhelming forces surrounding them.
Rocket, filled with rage, nodded fiercely. “There’s no mistake. Even if he ripped off that skin, I’d still recognize him!”
“Good,” Leo replied. With the confirmation that it was indeed the High Evolutionary, the next steps were clear.
“Peter, you, Rocket, and Groot handle the High Evolutionary. Mantis, use your hypnosis to calm those three beasts. They may look ugly, but they’re not truly evil. Gamora and Nebula, deal with the rest of the fodder. Wanda, keep an eye on everyone, and if anyone is in danger, help them. I’ll take care of the ships above.”
He quickly assigned tasks to everyone.
The High Evolutionary, seeing that they still didn’t take him seriously even in such a dire situation, was enraged.
“Kill everyone except 89P13!” he ordered, and chaos erupted immediately.
Groot extended his arms upward, grabbing the platform beneath the High Evolutionary and launching Rocket toward him, while Rocket’s weapon fired another round of energy bullets. Star-Lord, using his celestial power, flew up to join the fight.
The three of them—Star-Lord, Groot, and Rocket—clashed with the High Evolutionary.
Meanwhile, Mantis carefully approached the three monstrous creatures, placing her hands on them. It didn’t take long for her to connect with their minds and successfully tame them, turning them into her mounts and helping Gamora and Nebula battle the hideously modified creatures.
Wanda stood in the center, watching from side to side, realizing that no one seemed to need her assistance. She looked up at the sky and saw that all of the remote-controlled Sovereign ships had disappeared, and Leo had returned to her side.
It turned out that as soon as the battle had begun, Leo had flown into the sky and unleashed a full-power *Galaxian Explosion*, instantly wiping out all the Sovereign ships.
At Leo’s current level, such ordinary ships posed no threat. Just as Ego had easily destroyed the Sovereign’s ships, Leo did the same without breaking a sweat.
“This is impossible!” The High Evolutionary, struggling to defend himself against Star-Lord’s celestial power, as well as the combined attacks from Rocket and Groot, couldn’t believe his eyes as the tide of the battle shifted in mere seconds.
He had ordered Ayesha, the High Priestess, to deploy two-thirds of the Sovereign Empire’s fleet, and now, in a blink of an eye, that same fleet had been obliterated by a single man. It was terrifying!
“Could he be the Dark Terminator?”
At that moment, the High Evolutionary remembered a recent, highly exaggerated rumor circulating in the galaxy. It told of a male human from Earth named Leo, who single-handedly destroyed Ronan’s Dark Aster fleet, earning him the nickname “Dark Terminator.”
When he had heard Leo speak earlier, the High Evolutionary, born on Earth himself, had recognized the language as that of a human from Earth.
“Get out of my way!” The High Evolutionary unleashed a powerful wave of telekinesis, pushing back the three attackers before turning to flee down an internal corridor.
However, as he turned, he realized that the same man who had stood below was now standing right in front of him.
“Holy Sword Slash!”
Leo concentrated his cosmos energy into his right hand, using Shura’s Holy Sword technique. With one swift motion, he sliced the High Evolutionary cleanly in half.
“Peter, you still need to practice using your celestial power. You’re far from mastering it.”
If Peter had fully unleashed the celestial power he inherited, he might not have been as powerful as Ego, but he certainly wouldn’t have been weaker than the High Evolutionary. The fight should’ve been an easy victory.
However, Peter had only been practicing his celestial power for half a month, and he hadn’t been particularly diligent, which led to the High Evolutionary nearly escaping, even with Groot and Rocket’s help.
“Side quest completed. Small world time has been granted.”
Hearing the notification, Leo opened his panel, confirming that his small world time had increased to three and a half years.
