MWM Chapter 427

This entry is part 428 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

“Because Vision had signed the Sokovia Accords, his body was taken by the government for research after his death, in accordance with the agreement.

According to information from Fury, Vision’s body is now held by a department called the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division.

However, there’s been a slight issue. The former head, Maria Rambeau, who had a good relationship with Fury, passed away three years ago from illness.

Now, a man named Tyler Hayward has taken over, and he seems reluctant to hand over Vision’s body.

I’ve already reached out, and Fury and General Ross are helping as well, but it might take a few days to get Vision’s body back.”

After everyone else had left, Tony stayed behind with Leo and Wanda, apologetically explaining the situation.

After the Blip, the most qualified people to decide Vision’s fate were himself, Steve, and Wakanda.

Tony had created Vision; his consciousness was based on Tony’s previous AI, J.A.R.V.I.S., and after Wanda disappeared in the Snap, Tony felt it was his responsibility to handle Vision’s remains.

However, both he and Vision had signed the Sokovia Accords, which gave the government certain rights to Vision’s body, and Tony couldn’t refuse their requests.

Furthermore, at the time, Tony was devastated and didn’t have the energy to argue with the government.

The Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division wasn’t seen as an evil organization; Fury had mentioned that it was somewhat like S.H.I.E.L.D., so Tony hadn’t been too concerned.

Captain Steve Rogers also had a claim to Vision’s body as an Avenger, but after the Blip, Steve was pardoned on the condition that he cooperate with the government to some extent. Without Tony around, Steve wasn’t sure how to handle Vision’s remains, and after they killed Thanos, the matter of retrieving Vision’s body from the division was never pursued.

Then there was Wakanda.

Since Vision’s body was made of vibranium, which came from Wakanda, they would normally have a claim to retrieve his remains.

However, after the Snap, Wakanda had lost its king, its princess, and half of its people, so they were too preoccupied to recover Vision from the government.

As a result, Vision’s body had been in the division’s hands for five years.

Upon hearing this, Wanda’s expression darkened. Vision had sacrificed himself to prevent Thanos from gathering all six Infinity Stones, yet after his death, his body was taken by the government for research rather than being honored. It was hard for her not to feel betrayed.

Despite her sadness, Wanda remained understanding. She knew Tony and the others had their reasons, so she didn’t blame them.

“Alright, we can wait.”

“Tony, can you tell me the location of this Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division, and help me set up a meeting with their head? I’d like to talk to him.

I’m very good at convincing people, and I’m sure if we talk, he’ll agree to let us take Vision’s body now.”

Before Wanda could finish speaking, Leo interrupted her.

He knew that the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division was actually S.W.O.R.D.

This department had been created in response to the Skrulls and Kree coming to Earth, designed to observe and counter extraterrestrial threats. Maria Rambeau, the former head, was a close friend of Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, and an ally of Nick Fury.

Three years ago, Maria had died of illness and had planned to pass leadership to her daughter, Monica Rambeau. However, Monica had disappeared during the Snap, and so Tyler Hayward was appointed as acting director.

Tyler Hayward, though, was no good. In the original story, he framed Wanda as a terrorist and stole Vision’s body to resurrect the “White Vision” he created using Wanda’s powers. He was an ambitious man.

There was no way someone like Hayward would give up Vision’s body so easily. He was probably stalling for time, possibly plotting something, so it was best to deal with the situation quickly and directly.

“Of course, no problem, but Tyler Hayward doesn’t seem like the easiest person to deal with, so you might be disappointed.”

Tony agreed to Leo’s request, providing the address and making contact, though he kindly warned him of the challenges ahead.

However, Tony misunderstood one thing—he thought Leo was like the Avengers, bound by similar moral codes. After all, in the 2012 timeline, Leo was a renowned philanthropist who had saved New York.

Now, he had brought back Black Widow, helped them defeat Thanos, and was willing to give up the Mind Stone to resurrect Vision.

But in reality, Leo wasn’t like them at all. He didn’t feel obligated to follow the same rules as regular people.

“No worries. I prefer to persuade people through virtue. I’m sure I can convince him.”

With the address in hand, Leo waved off Tony’s concerns. He made a gesture, and a white cloud appeared beneath him.

“My dear… uh, Miss Wanda, hop on.”

He almost called her the name he used for his Wanda, but quickly corrected himself, realizing this wasn’t his Wanda.

Wanda blushed slightly but quickly jumped onto the cloud.

Facing a different version of her lover from another timeline made her feel a bit self-conscious.

In a blink, the white cloud soared into the sky, and they vanished above the Avengers headquarters.

Less than ten minutes later, Leo and Wanda appeared in front of a large building.

The two exchanged glances and walked into the S.W.O.R.D. headquarters, where they were soon escorted to a room by agents.

They waited for an entire hour before Tyler Hayward finally entered.

“I’m terribly sorry to keep you waiting,” Hayward said with a smile as he walked in, his demeanor all polished and friendly. “Ever since all the people returned after the Blip, the world has been in chaos, and we’ve been overwhelmed with work. I really must thank the Avengers for—”

Dressed in a suit and appearing every bit the amicable agent, Hayward was all smiles, apologizing to Leo and Wanda without any trace of the arrogance one might expect from a S.W.O.R.D. director. He seemed approachable and reasonable.

But Leo saw through his fake smile instantly. He knew Hayward was trying to lower their guard.

Without wasting any time, Leo threw a punch.

“Phantom Emperor Fist!”

He had no interest in wasting valuable time on someone like Hayward.
