MWM Chapter 490

This entry is part 491 of 599 in the series In Marvel: I Start by Marying Scarlett Witch

In the vast depths of space, amidst countless asteroids, a massive black spaceship disguised as an asteroid suddenly powered up, emitting a crimson glow of energy.

“The Convergence is imminent. Aether energy detected. Initiating the awakening sequence!”

An electronic voice echoed inside the ship, and countless stasis pods opened, with Dark Elves slowly awakening and stepping out.

“We’ve slept for 5,000 years, and finally, the opportunity has come again.”

In the control room, the Dark Elves’ leader, Malekith, also emerged from his stasis pod.

“Five thousand years of shame. This time, I will make Asgard pay tenfold!”

“Leader, we’ve detected the Aether’s energy signature, but it’s not in Asgard—it’s on Midgard.”

At that moment, a towering Dark Elf entered the control room. This was Algrim, the strongest warrior among the Dark Elves.

Malekith’s expression turned to surprise.

“On Midgard?”

He had originally assumed that after Bor took the Aether, it would be locked away in Asgard’s vault. He hadn’t expected it to be on Midgard.

But after some thought, it made sense. After all, 5,000 years had passed—anything could have happened.

“Perhaps this is for the best. We don’t know Asgard’s current situation, and attacking them directly to retrieve the Aether would be difficult. But Midgard is a weak mortal world with almost no force capable of resisting us. If we act swiftly, we can seize the Aether before Asgard even reacts, and then, using the Convergence, plunge the universe back into darkness!”

Algrim’s face lit up with excitement.

Malekith pondered briefly, then nodded in agreement.

“You’re right. Once the universe is returned to darkness, we’ll regain our full strength, and we can take our revenge on Asgard later. For now, retrieving the Aether and ending this corrupt universe is our priority.

“Prepare the ship. We leave for Midgard immediately!”

“Yes, leader!”

Algrim quickly turned and left the control room to relay Malekith’s orders to the ship’s crew.

Soon after, the Dark Elves’ warship transformed into a streak of light, vanishing from the asteroid field.

Three days later, a massive warship appeared in Earth’s orbit.

“It seems that in 5,000 years, the mortals of Midgard have made some technological progress.”

Malekith glanced at the satellites and space stations orbiting Earth, a sneer forming on his lips.

“Too bad their technology is still at such a primitive level, hardly a threat to us.”

“We must remain discreet to avoid detection by Asgard,” Algrim reminded him.

Malekith nodded.

“Activate the ship’s cloaking mode. Lock onto the Aether’s location, and we’ll go straight there.”

There wasn’t much time left before the Convergence. If Asgard discovered them and sent forces to Midgard for aid, their chances of seizing the Aether would diminish greatly.

If they failed to acquire the Aether before the Convergence ended, even defeating Asgard’s forces would be meaningless—they wouldn’t be able to plunge the universe back into darkness.

The best strategy now was to quietly infiltrate Midgard, send a small elite force to retrieve the Aether, and then unleash its power during the Convergence.

“To be sure, let me become a Cursed Warrior,” Algrim said, holding out a stone filled with crimson energy.

The success of their mission depended on speed, and the stronger he was, the fewer unforeseen problems could arise.

Malekith hesitated for a moment before pulling out a dagger and stabbing it into Algrim’s abdomen.

“You will become the most valiant of the Dark Elves, cursed until you are fully transformed.”

Chanting a spell, Malekith placed the blood-red stone into the wound on Algrim’s stomach.

Although Cursed Warriors were powerful, they eventually lost all reason and became monstrous creatures doomed to die.

Algrim was Malekith’s most trusted subordinate, but the fate of the Dark Elf race was at stake, and Algrim’s sacrifice was necessary.

“I will crush all of our enemies and create a new universe for you!”

Algrim roared, his body rapidly swelling until he transformed into a towering, four-meter-tall humanoid monster—a Cursed Warrior, the Dark Elves’ most feared creation.

Meanwhile, in Queens, New York…

Leo sat on the living room sofa with Wanda in his arms, using magic to make little Charlie fly around the room, her giggles filling the air.

A normal baby would sleep through their first month, cry during the second, and start smiling by the third. But thanks to inheriting Leo’s strong genes, Charlie had already reached milestones that most babies wouldn’t achieve until their third month, all within half a month.

She was also exceptionally brave, never feeling scared of floating in the air.

“Look how adorable she is when she laughs.”

Wanda, snuggled up to Leo, watched little Charlie with eyes full of love.

Leo smiled and nodded in agreement.

A baby’s laughter was truly heartwarming, though he knew that as they grew older—especially around seven or eight—that feeling might shift to something more stressful.

“Wanda, keep an eye on Charlie. I need to take care of something, but I’ll be back soon.”

Suddenly sensing something, Leo turned to Wanda, gave her a quick instruction, and vanished.

At the same time, the Dark Elves’ warship, now cloaked, had arrived above Queens.

Three black, blade-shaped ships detached from the warship and landed on the main road in front of Leo’s apartment complex.

Dozens of Dark Elf soldiers, armed with energy guns, marched toward the building where Leo lived, led by Algrim, now in his monstrous Cursed Warrior form.

Their strange and terrifying appearance sent pedestrians and residents scattering in fear.

However, just as they approached the entrance to the complex, a storm of bullets rained down on them.

It was Li San and his security team. Recognizing the threat, they immediately switched to attack mode.

“Such primitive weapons, and they think they can harm us Dark Elves?”

Algrim mocked as the bullets bounced harmlessly off his body, as ineffective as raindrops.

The Dark Elf soldiers activated their energy shields, easily blocking the barrage of bullets.

“Clearly not ordinary people. Switch weapons!”

Li San, in charge of the security forces, smirked as he realized standard weapons wouldn’t be enough and issued a new command.

The security guards, dressed in their uniforms, quickly holstered their submachine guns and assault rifles and pulled out sleek, advanced energy guns—the most sophisticated weapons in the galaxy.
