**Chapter 123: The Disappearance of the Forbidden Zone Shocks the Authorities!**
At the entrance of the Forbidden Zone.
One by one, students emerged, each with mediocre mission evaluations. The high-ranking military officials present to observe were visibly displeased.
The best evaluations so far were from Zhao Ling’er and Su Ziqiu, marked as green.
Not a single purple evaluation had been achieved, let alone red.
When most of the students had returned, the instructor approached them, his face stern as he questioned, “What’s going on? Why did you perform so poorly?”
The students, proud and competitive by nature, felt insulted. Several voiced their dissatisfaction.
“Instructor, it’s not that we wanted to perform poorly. The mission time wasn’t even up, and we were forcibly teleported out!”
“Exactly! We gave it our all.”
“And we want to ask you, Instructor—why didn’t you tell us about the possibility of changing the world’s fate?”
Hearing this flurry of complaints, the instructor froze.
The mission time wasn’t over, but they were teleported out?
What on earth was going on?
“What happened?” he asked urgently. “What exactly occurred in the Forbidden Zone?”
One student explained, “The world’s fate in the Forbidden Zone was changed by someone, and we were all forced out early.”
“What?”
The instructor was stunned. “That’s possible?”
From the instructor’s reaction, it was clear he hadn’t known it was even possible to change the fate of a world.
This seemed to be an unprecedented occurrence.
At that moment.
The Forbidden Zone’s entrance suddenly burst into dazzling golden light.
Within the radiant glow, a figure appeared.
Illuminated by the golden light, the figure resembled a god descending to earth, radiating brilliance.
The crowd stared, dumbstruck.
**Golden light.**
That was the sign of the highest mission evaluation!
As they focused on the figure, they realized it was none other than the national champion, **Fang Ye**.
Just as Fang Ye appeared, an even more shocking event unfolded.
Behind him, the entrance to the Forbidden Zone began to dissolve, fading away entirely.
Everyone present, including the observing military officials, was utterly dumbfounded.
—
**Ten minutes later.**
Fang Ye was taken into a dimly lit room.
Some Forbidden Zones allowed participants to recover from injuries upon exiting.
Fang Ye’s condition was already fully restored.
The room was equipped with numerous surveillance cameras.
Soon after.
A middle-aged colonel entered and sat across from Fang Ye.
“Hello, Fang Ye. I’m Colonel Wu from XX Military,” the man introduced himself.
Fang Ye nodded. “Hello, Colonel Wu.”
“Would you like something to drink?” Colonel Wu offered.
Fang Ye didn’t hold back. “A glass of water would be great. And a steak, if possible—I’m starving.”
Colonel Wu immediately instructed someone to make the arrangements.
Before long.
A steaming hot steak and a glass of water were brought in.
The steak was still sizzling, freshly prepared.
Hungry, Fang Ye began eating without hesitation.
Colonel Wu watched silently, refraining from interrupting Fang Ye’s meal.
After Fang Ye finished, someone came to clear the plates.
Finally.
Colonel Wu began his inquiry. “Fang Ye, the fate of the Forbidden Zone world was altered. That was your doing, wasn’t it?”
Fang Ye nodded openly. “Yes, it was. I went back to a peaceful era and eliminated all the white-spiked creatures ahead of time.”
“Can you tell me in detail what you did in the Forbidden Zone?” Colonel Wu asked.
“Of course!” Fang Ye agreed, recalling as he spoke. “Based on the information provided by the instructor, I deduced that the white-spiked creatures must have already existed in that world. So, when I entered the Forbidden Zone, I chose to travel to December 2023…”
“Wait!” Colonel Wu interrupted. “Why that specific time?”
Fang Ye calmly explained, “The instructor told us that the future world opened the time-space channel in 2049, and the channel was destroyed by the creatures in 2050. That gives a one-year window.”
“The first time soldiers from the future traveled to the past was December 2022. By 2023, communication between the present and the future had been severed.”
“I figured that traveling to 2023 might allow me to learn about the white-spiked creatures from those veterans.”
This, of course, was a half-truth.
The real reason Fang Ye chose that timeline was because he already knew the story.
Naturally, he wouldn’t share that knowledge, not even with Su Ziqiu.
Colonel Wu frowned slightly, finding the explanation somewhat unconvincing.
But it was plausible enough.
“I see. Please continue, Fang Ye.”
Fang Ye resumed, “While searching for veterans who had fought in the future war, I encountered one named Dan Forester.”
Colonel Wu immediately noted the name.
“Dan Forester’s daughter is a top scientist in the future, who developed a toxin capable of killing the white-spiked creatures. Unfortunately, it was too late to save her. I shared my theory with Dan, and he agreed with me.”
“Next, we worked to prove our hypothesis. From another veteran, we obtained a white creature’s claw and discovered traces of volcanic ash on it. The ash, dating back a thousand years, suggested that the creatures might have arrived on that world long ago.”
“We analyzed the volcanic ash and concluded that the creatures were likely buried beneath Arctic glaciers.”
“Finally, we assembled a team and discovered a crashed alien spacecraft beneath the glaciers. Inside, we found a massive number of white-spiked creatures.”
“Those creatures were biological weapons, deployed by aliens to exterminate native species and claim planets for themselves.”
“The creatures only reappeared in 2048 because the spacecraft had been buried under ice. When the glaciers melted, they were freed.”
“In the end, we planted explosives in the spacecraft and destroyed all the white-spiked creatures.”
Fang Ye finished his story in one breath and took a sip of water.
The narrative, of course, was a mix of truth and fabrication.
In reality, Fang Ye had single-handedly annihilated the creatures with his bare hands.
He avoided using explosives to ensure the highest mission evaluation.
Now that the Forbidden Zone entrance had disappeared, there was no way to verify his account. He could shape the story however he liked.
After all, it was his moment.
