Chapter 166: Three Rinnegan Users!
Jiraiya had completed his Sage Mode transformation.
Fang Ye nodded, sensing the drastic shift in Jiraiya’s aura—it was as if he had become an entirely different person.
Previously, Jiraiya’s strength was formidable, but now it was on another level, perhaps more than twice as powerful as before.
The Animal Path, standing atop the high ground, sensed this change too.
“This isn’t just about summoning two toads…” Shima, the female toad on Jiraiya’s shoulder, looked puzzled as she turned to him. “Why are you fighting him?”
“Because he was once my student,” Jiraiya replied solemnly.
Shima’s partner, Fukasaku, froze. “The Child of Prophecy?!” he exclaimed, recalling the Great Toad Sage’s prediction.
Jiraiya nodded. Fukasaku, now aware of the stakes, looked at the Animal Path with resolve. “It seems he’s strayed from the right path. We have no choice but to end him here.”
Without hesitation, Shima struck first. Her tongue, strangely shaped with what seemed like a mouth at its tip, unleashed a torrent of flames.
The Animal Path reacted swiftly, summoning a massive bear-like creature to block the fiery onslaught. The flames consumed the beast, its fur catching fire in an instant.
Fukasaku didn’t stand idle. “Water Slash!” he yelled, firing a high-pressure stream of water that sliced the burning bear in two.
Unfazed, the Animal Path clasped his hands together again. “Summoning Jutsu!”
With a loud bang, smoke enveloped the area. When it cleared, two new figures stood by his side.
“What are those?” Jiraiya stared at the newcomers, momentarily confused.
“They’re likely part of Pain’s summoning techniques,” Fang Ye said, narrowing his eyes. “And both of them… have the Rinnegan.”
“What?!” Jiraiya looked closer and gasped. Both newcomers had the same pale purple eyes with concentric black rings that seemed to hypnotize and disorient anyone who stared too long.
“No matter who or what you are,” Jiraiya declared, taking a battle stance, “if you aim to destroy this world, I will stop you!”
Standing beside Jiraiya, Fang Ye carefully observed the two figures. Their identities became clear to him immediately.
“The Preta Path… and the Human Path,” Fang Ye murmured, recalling their abilities.
“One specializes in reading memories—perfect for intelligence gathering. The other can absorb chakra, making it the most defensive of the Six Paths.”
Despite his insight, Fang Ye chose not to share these details with Jiraiya, avoiding unnecessary complications.
“Jiraiya-sensei, I don’t know exactly what they can do, but don’t let them get close,” Fang Ye advised loudly.
“Got it,” Jiraiya replied with a firm nod.
“Who’s that?” Shima asked curiously, pointing at Fang Ye.
“He’s a Konoha ninja and my partner,” Jiraiya explained.
“Ah, I see.” Fukasaku nodded before turning back toward the three adversaries. “Looks like it’s time for me to step in!”
Jiraiya suddenly began waving his hands theatrically, hopping on one foot. “Now, using Sage Techniques instead of Ninjutsu, I’ll—”
Whack!
Before he could finish, Shima and Fukasaku punched him squarely in the face.
“Stop yelling in our ears!” they shouted.
Jiraiya stumbled back, his dramatic entrance cut short. “Why does this always happen?” he grumbled, crestfallen.
Fang Ye couldn’t help but roll his eyes. He even considered suggesting Jiraiya try performing in a children’s theater—where no one would interrupt his antics.
Suddenly, the Human Path attacked!
With incredible speed, he aimed a strike directly at Fang Ye’s head.
“Get lost!” Fang Ye roared, raising a leg and kicking the Human Path squarely in the face.
Boom!
The Human Path was sent flying like a cannonball, crashing through a wall. He landed in the rubble, his eyes destroyed from the sheer force of Fang Ye’s kick.
“Let’s get serious!” Jiraiya shouted, unleashing his Sage Techniques. “Sage Art: Goemon!”
Jiraiya, along with Shima and Fukasaku, combined their powers. Shima launched a fire release jutsu, Fukasaku a wind release jutsu, and Jiraiya spewed oil from his mouth. The elements merged into a massive, roaring inferno that surged toward their enemies.
This attack was similar to the Toad Oil Flame Bullet but far more devastating.
Yet Pain remained unfazed.
The Preta Path stepped forward and activated its ability. In an instant, the entire inferno was absorbed into his body, leaving no trace of the attack.
“Not even a scratch?” Jiraiya stood frozen, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
“Try close combat,” Fang Ye suggested. “The Preta Path can absorb all chakra-based attacks. Ninjutsu won’t work.”
“Understood,” Jiraiya said, discarding his clogs and forming a massive Rasengan in his hand. “Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan!”
The enormous chakra sphere, large enough to dwarf multiple people, was launched at the Preta Path. It, too, was absorbed without effort.
Fang Ye wasn’t idle either. He appeared at the Preta Path’s flank and threw a powerful punch aimed at its head.
At the last moment, the Preta Path twisted its body unnaturally, narrowly evading the attack.
Meanwhile, Jiraiya responded to the Human Path’s attempt to counterattack. Dropping to all fours, he unleashed a barrage of attacks. “Sage Art: Hair Needle Barrage!”
White needles shot from Jiraiya’s hair, blanketing the area with a deadly rain of projectiles aimed at the Human Path.
Once again, something strange happened. Without opening its eyes or turning its head, the Human Path seemed to sense Jiraiya’s attack and countered with a summoning jutsu.
A giant panda appeared, shielding the Human Path completely. The needles embedded harmlessly into the panda’s thick hide.
“Nothing’s working!” Jiraiya leapt back to Fang Ye’s side.
“How is he dodging everything without even looking?” Jiraiya muttered, frustration evident in his voice.
“This doesn’t make sense,” Fukasaku said, his tone serious. “Our attacks have been from blind spots, but it’s as if they have a second set of eyes.”
“Maybe it’s those Rinnegan,” Fang Ye said decisively, pointing toward the Animal Path standing on the high ground.
“While we were fighting, that one didn’t move. It just stood there, watching.”
Jiraiya followed Fang Ye’s gaze and frowned in thought. Suddenly, he clapped his hands together, realization dawning on him.
“I’ve got it! It’s because of those eyes!”
