OKSTS Chapter 20

Chapter 20: Using the Protagonist as a Pawn!

Seeing Alice.

Fang Ye was slightly surprised.

He hadn’t expected to encounter Alice here. What a coincidence…

Since Alice was with this group, it was clear to Fang Ye that the burly white man beside her, who seemed familiar, must be Carlos, the mercenary from *Resident Evil 2*.

Given that Carlos was still alive and present here, Fang Ye could confirm that the timeline in Restricted Zone No. 2 was indeed set during *Resident Evil 3*!

“Hey, man, who are you? Why’d you stop us?”

Carlos asked as he stood facing Fang Ye.

Perhaps seeing that Fang Ye was alone made Carlos lower his guard—he hadn’t even bothered to unlock the safety on his rifle.

He spoke in English.

Strangely, Fang Ye could understand every word and knew exactly how to respond, as though there were no language barriers.

Fang Ye was certain he hadn’t learned English before.

Clearly, it was Restricted Zone No. 2 itself that allowed him to understand English. The moment he entered the zone, the language seemed to integrate into his memory.

It was quite miraculous…

“I mean no harm. I need your help,” Fang Ye replied.

Hearing this, Carlos lazily asked, “Why don’t you tell me what kind of trouble you’re in? If it’s something small, we’re happy to help.”

The implication being, if it’s something big, forget about it…

Fang Ye said, “I want to go to Raccoon City. I was wondering if you’d be willing to give me a ride?”

At the mention of Raccoon City, both Carlos and Alice’s expressions changed.

They didn’t have fond memories of Raccoon City.

A year ago, they had barely escaped from there.

Carlos, a mercenary hired by Umbrella Corporation, was sent to Raccoon City to rescue survivors, only to encounter the biohazard crisis. He lost many comrades and almost died himself.

As for Alice, there was no need to mention her—her loved one had died at her own hands…

Raccoon City.

It was a place of painful memories for them, a place they didn’t want to revisit!

“What do you need to go to Raccoon City for?”

This time, it was Alice who spoke.

Her sharp eyes were locked on Fang Ye, as if trying to discern his true intentions.

Fang Ye smiled inwardly but outwardly put on a righteous facade:

“I want to go to Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters, find the T-virus antidote, and save this damned world!”

Hearing this, Alice shook her head, disappointed. “There’s no point in going to Raccoon City—it’s a wasteland now. There’s nothing left there!”

She was referring to the nuclear strike that had obliterated the city.

Indeed.

From the surface, after the nuclear bombing, Raccoon City was reduced to ruins.

“No! According to the information I’ve received, Umbrella Corporation’s true headquarters is buried deep within the Hive, far beneath Raccoon City. The company’s key personnel and the T-virus antidote are all down there!”

Fang Ye’s tone was firm.

He shared this information with Alice with a clear purpose.

From the moment he saw Alice, a plan had formed in Fang Ye’s mind. He wanted to deceive Alice into going to the Hive in Raccoon City with him, to help him complete his mission.

After all.

In the *Resident Evil* world.

Alice was the chosen one.

The absolute protagonist!

She had the powerful plot armor of a main character!!

The Hive was filled with traps and dangers that still posed a significant threat to Fang Ye, even with his abilities.

But if he brought Alice along, using her as a pawn to scout the way, Fang Ye’s chances of success would increase by at least thirty percent!
