RWWOKS Chapter 154

This entry is part 155 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

By the time Fang Bo finally freed himself, Jorogumo had already finished her meal.

**Task Progress: Hunt 1/9 Ghost Kings and Great Demons**

Seeing the update in his mission, Fang Bo smiled with satisfaction.

As long as the task requirements were met, that was good enough. At least all their efforts hadn’t been in vain. The only issue now was figuring out where to find the remaining eight Ghost Kings.

Noticing his low health, Fang Bo grabbed poor little Karin and, amidst Yao Yao’s startled cry, sank his teeth into her neck.

“What are you doing?” the young girl asked, covering her eyes but peeking through her fingers.

After sneaking a glance for a while, she realized that what was happening wasn’t what she’d imagined, causing Yao Yao to let out a disappointed sigh.

She had witnessed Fang Bo biting people before and thought it might be some kind of strange habit, but now it seemed more like some form of healing method.

Hadn’t his wounds already begun to heal?

“Could he be a vampire?” Yao Yao began to get excited again.

Glancing at the red-faced girl, Fang Bo couldn’t be bothered to address her thoughts. Once his health was fully restored, he stood up and gestured for Karin to help Jugo, who had reverted to child form.

“No need,” Jugo declined. The missing internal organs weren’t something that could be healed with regular treatment.

He needed to find a living body, or at least a recently deceased one, to extract organs from in order to fully recover.

Fang Bo nodded in understanding and then checked on Guren.

“I’m fine,” she said, rolling her shoulders slightly. From beginning to end, she hadn’t suffered any injuries, though mentally she was quite drained.

They had been in constant action since last night, going from one fight to the next with no real rest. Even if their bodies could endure, their tightly wound nerves needed some relief.

It wasn’t just her—everyone else was visibly tired too. However, seeing Fang Bo’s urgency, they all refrained from showing it.

“I’ve been rushing too much. Let’s find a place to rest for a while,” Fang Bo finally said.

Within ten minutes, they had set up a small camp in a secluded spot.

It wasn’t just a makeshift shelter of sticks and leaves but a fully constructed mini-camp, complete with a campfire surrounded by a bounty of food and beer.

“Hehe, don’t hold back, everyone—today it’s my treat!” Yao Yao chirped happily as she gnawed on a drumstick.

To be honest, watching her pull item after item out of her pouch, Fang Bo grew more and more intrigued by the girl’s seemingly bottomless bag.

It wasn’t that Yao Yao had prepared well—it felt more like whatever she wanted, she could pull out from there.

He couldn’t quite understand the principle behind it, and whenever he asked, Yao Yao would deflect the question.

“Forget it, everyone has their secrets,” Fang Bo shrugged, unapologetically claiming a fluffy chair for himself before settling down and quickly drifting into sleep.

Knowing hypnosis had its perks—he could sleep whenever he wanted, never having to worry about insomnia.

As for safety, with Karin acting as a passive radar on the surface and a swarm of ghost spiders patrolling the surroundings, his vigilance while awake or asleep made no real difference.

Rest and relaxation were important—after all, how could he continue to fight without recharging his energy?

After wiping the grease from her hands, Yao Yao glanced at the snoring Fang Bo, the light in her eyes gradually dimming.

Finding a quiet spot, the young girl curled up into a ball, pulling a blanket over herself.

“Sister, I’m so scared, boo-hoo…”

It seemed her bag trembled slightly in response, as if offering silent comfort.

“Mm-hmm, I understand.”

Whatever had just transpired, Yao Yao’s crying ceased, and soon the sound of light snoring could be heard from under the blanket.

The other three companions had also each found a place to rest.

After witnessing the strength of the Five Great Hidden Villages’ genin, the two warriors no longer carried the casual attitude they once had.

“No wonder they’re from big villages. Even the genin are so strong,” Jugo said, recalling the woman who had knocked him away with a single blow.

“Seems like I’ve been a frog in a well,” Guren added, thinking back to the man wreathed in flames.

As for Karin, she snuck into her blanket, her mind filled with thoughts of the handsome boy who had saved her.

“I wonder what his name is.”

The next day, as she lazily sat up and put on her glasses, she noticed that everyone else had already woken up and washed up.

Seeing the basin by her chair, she knew it must have been Yao Yao who fetched the water. That obnoxious guy wouldn’t have been so considerate.

Just as she thought that, something hit her on the head.

Looking down, she saw it was a scroll marked with the symbol “Heaven.”

“When we get to the central tower, remember to hand this in for the mission,” Fang Bo said as he tossed a similar scroll at Yao Yao, but she caught it mid-air with a smug grin.

Ignoring her proud smile, Fang Bo slowly stood up, his calm demeanor suddenly becoming razor-sharp.

Everyone knew another battle was about to begin.

As they continued moving forward, Karin took on the role of tracking enemies.

She found three groups along the way.

The first group fled as soon as they spotted them, not giving Fang Bo’s team any chance to engage.

The second and third groups were their own allies, and Fang Bo would never attack members of his own faction.

While they didn’t encounter enemies, they did hear some news.

Apparently, the big battle had ultimately resulted in Iwagakure’s victory, thanks to a plan that had been in the works for a long time.

Of course, they had paid a steep price, mostly due to the hidden weaponry of the Sunagakure forces.

There was one other important piece of information.

To secure their positions on the leaderboard, the factions had started grouping up—especially Iwagakure, which now moved in groups of at least seven or eight.

It was rumored that Iwagakure also had some sort of special communication tool. Whenever they were attacked, nearby members would rush to help.

Other factions had followed suit, forming teams of six or seven people, a daunting sight for any onlooker.

In other words, Fang Bo could no longer hunt freely.

No matter how confident he was, he couldn’t take on multiple teams alone—especially with Jugo still badly injured and Jorogumo’s spiders heavily depleted.

Even a seemingly ordinary group could have hidden powerhouses, and Fang Bo wouldn’t survive if multiple teams focused their attacks on him.

“Is this the end already?” Fang Bo muttered, clearly unwilling to accept it.

**Current Progress:**

Story Points: 6,587 (3,000 in debt)

Personal Points: 48

Looking at his current earnings, his mood improved significantly.

If he included the items in his inventory ready to be sold, he was probably not far from reaching 10,000 points.

“With so many participants, there’s bound to be a second round of selection. I’ll likely gain quite a bit from that too,” Fang Bo mused optimistically.

Anyone who survived the deadly forest would be strong, and their hands would surely be stained with the blood of others.

The loot from such individuals’ chests would no doubt contain a substantial amount of story points.

Fang Bo didn’t ask for much—just enough to pay off his debt and have 10,000 story points left over.

His demands didn’t seem that high, considering that even with this much, he wouldn’t be able to upgrade all his skills to max level.

Let’s take a look at what he needed to upgrade right now.

His three main active skills, including Shikigami Summoning, all needed upgrades. Although once they become followers, the upgraded skills would disappear automatically, the additional special effects from upgrading would still stay with Jorogumo.

**Level 3 effect:** Tough Spider Silk, enhancing the toughness of the webs, granting high resistance to fire and slashing attacks.

**Level 6 effect:** Venom Sac, the poison can corrode cells and inhibit the target’s health regeneration.

Both the spider webs and the venom sac played decisive roles in battle, so how could Fang Bo give up on the unknown effects of the next two levels?

Now that she had evolved into the Ghost Mother Yin Hime, the upgraded effects would likely improve even further.

Who knows? It might even give birth to some special abilities that work on the ghost spiders as well.

This expense was something he absolutely couldn’t cut.

The other two active skills needed to be fully upgraded, too. Once maxed out, Fang Bo’s combat power would become even more formidable.

Then there were the many basic skills that also needed upgrading.

Basic Shooting could be ignored for now—it was sufficient at the moment.

Basic Melee and Basic Swordsmanship both needed to be maxed out to enhance the destructive power of the Yoriichi Zero Form.

Then there was **Master-level Puppet Theater**, a must-have skill for controlling two puppets simultaneously, though Fang Bo still hadn’t found a second suitable puppet.

**Puppet Creation and Repair** also needed upgrading. This skill would invisibly save him a significant amount of money. So far, it had already saved him around four to five hundred story points.

Once he had more puppets, material consumption would become even more terrifying, so not upgrading would be a huge loss.

And if he ever learned how to create human puppets in the future, there would be even more things to upgrade.

**Pre-requisite skills for Human Puppet Creation:** Basic Puppet Making MAX, Puppet Repair MAX, and Mechanical Parts Study MAX.

Seeing those three maxed-out skills alone gave Fang Bo a headache.

Is 10,000 story points a lot?

If he dumped it all into upgrades, it wouldn’t be nearly enough. To be precise, it probably wouldn’t even be enough just to upgrade his A-ranked skill, King’s Treasure.

Upgrading B-ranked skills would gradually consume more and more, increasing by increments of 200 story points.

For example, learning a scroll would cost 200 story points, upgrading it to level 2 would cost 400, and level 3 would be 600, and so on.

If it were an A-ranked skill, the increase would jump to 400 story points per level.

Just upgrading from level 9 to 10 could consume 4,000 story points in one go, showing just how many resources Fang Bo would need to pour into it.

Unless he stumbled upon a few lucky breaks, it was hard to imagine gathering all the story points he needed just from this space war alone.

He had hoped to score another big sweep, but now the reincarnators were all starting to move in groups.

Without the advantage of numbers, Fang Bo’s battles would become incredibly difficult, and the team might even suffer casualties if things went wrong.

Mass slaughter was out of the question; he would have to settle for picking off a few stragglers.

That was Fang Bo’s current mindset.

Soon enough, Karin successfully located a target, but judging by her trembling, it was clear that the enemies were incredibly strong.

“How many are there?”

“Th-three,” she stammered.

Fang Bo was delighted. He wasn’t afraid of strong individual opponents; he only worried about being overwhelmed by reckless focus attacks.

As long as they weren’t outnumbered, he was confident he could take on anyone.

However, his joy was short-lived.

When the squad rushed to the scene, Fang Bo finally understood why Karin had been trembling non-stop.

That boy bathed in endless blood—it was none other than Gaara of the Sand, a Jinchuriki.

In normal conditions, he was the strongest participant in this Chunin Exam.

Not far ahead, several Konoha-aligned reincarnators lay on the ground. These guys had apparently tried to ambush the Sand Siblings.

Unfortunately, they had picked the wrong target, thinking Gaara was just another genin anyone could bully.

Little did they know that breaking through his **Absolute Defense** was practically impossible with less than thirty points in attack attributes.

Even with attributes pushed beyond thirty, the possibility of shattering his sand shield was merely theoretical.

Just as Lee used his speed to land hits, and Sasuke’s Chidori could break through the sand, in the end, they both still lost to Gaara.

As Fang Bo had said, at the moment, no one could defeat the top-tier T0 fighters in a one-on-one battle.
