RWWOKS Chapter 217

This entry is part 218 of 247 in the series The Reincarnation World Where Only I Know the Storyline

Even after entering Geista, Billy still felt that the situation unfolding before him was somewhat surreal.

Did this guy really agree to come along?

He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off, but now that they were on their home turf, he figured it would be best to leave the rest to the boss.

It wasn’t just Billy who felt this way; even Fang Bo was slightly puzzled, unable to understand what Yashiro Iori was up to.

“Did he really get his head messed up by K9999 last time?” Billy mused with malicious intent.

Just then, something unexpected happened.

At the entrance to the first-floor lobby, a man with golden slicked-back hair appeared.

If Rugal Bernstein resembled a domineering CEO, then this man looked much more like a mafia godfather.

“Welcome, gentlemen.” To everyone’s shock, Geese Howard, the actual controller of South Town, had come to the lobby to personally greet them.

Billy and his subordinates were stunned, but unfortunately, their strange emotions had no effect on the two guests.

Yashiro Iori had once killed Orochi, and Fang Bo had encountered many powerful villainous bosses. This kind of small-scale scene was nothing to them.

When they didn’t respond, Geese immediately complimented them, smiling as he spoke: “Yashiro’s strength is unmatched, and this brother here even single-handedly wiped out the Kofukan Dojo. You two are truly a perfect match. Please, come inside!”

Saying this, the mafia boss turned and personally led the way, his polite demeanor even making Billy feel a slight twinge of jealousy.

Was the boss ever this nice to me?

As Geese’s loyal enforcer, Billy had long been emotionally manipulated by his boss. In this situation, instead of resenting Geese for his favoritism, Billy found himself resentful of Yashiro for stealing his spotlight.

Noticing the hostility in Billy’s eyes, Fang Bo only felt more confused, completely unable to figure out what was going on today.

If he had been alone, there would have been no way he could step into Geesta, but Yashiro Iori had given him the courage to do so.

Watching the unresponsive side quest, Fang Bo knew that the crisis was far from over.

No matter what they would talk about next, if the conversation didn’t go well, a tremendous battle could break out at any moment.

Glancing around the room, Fang Bo was already thinking about his strategic deployment for the upcoming fight.

Soon, they all sat down at the dining table, where Geese had already prepared a lavish lunch.

Seeing that Yashiro hadn’t said anything, Fang Bo took on the responsibility of communication: “Alright, if there’s something to discuss, now’s the time.”

He put on an air of not wanting to waste anyone’s time.

Seeing this, Billy raised an eyebrow, about to lose his temper, but as soon as he saw his boss’s expression, he suddenly fell silent.

“Fine, let’s get straight to the point.” Geese snapped his fingers, and soon his subordinates brought in several large iron boxes.

When opened, the boxes were filled with stacks of crisp bills, their enticing gleam causing Billy to swallow involuntarily.

“I hope you two will join my South Town team and participate in the upcoming King of Fighters tournament. This is just a small token of goodwill to begin with.”

An answer that was both unexpected and, in hindsight, logical.

If someone were actively seeking Yashiro Iori, it could only mean one of two things: they either wanted to kill him or recruit him.

What surprised Fang Bo was that, instead of continuing his role as a mafia boss, Geese was going so far as to participate in the King of Fighters tournament. Was he not afraid of losing and being looked down upon by his subordinates?

Perhaps it was the alcohol that loosened Geese’s tongue, for he started to express his innermost feelings.

“It’s not easy being the boss,” he began.

“Every day, I wake up to manage the food, drink, and everything else for hundreds of people. If I don’t work hard, how can I support these brothers of mine?”

With that, the big boss slowly stood up, walking over to a beautifully antique cabinet, gazing at the photos hanging on the wall.

“In recent years, business for the Geese Syndicate has become harder and harder. As they say, adversity breeds change. Perhaps it’s time for me to step into the limelight.”

From what he said, it sounded as though he was preparing to move from the shadows to the stage.

Winning the King of Fighters tournament would bring him unimaginable popularity, and from there, it would only be a short leap to becoming the mayor of South Town.

South Town was a city, not a mere town. It wasn’t just the venue for the King of Fighters tournament; it could also support an army.

In the King of Fighters universe, South Town was akin to Gotham City in the DC Universe. Every major event had to go through here.

“Well, this guy really wants to earn his money while standing up,” Fang Bo thought to himself.

Before he could answer, the space notification chimed unexpectedly.

[Hidden Quest Triggered: Geese’s Ambition!]

[Quest Brief: Geese invites you to join the South Town team and help him achieve his ambition of stepping out from behind the scenes.]

[Quest Requirement: Help the South Town team win the King of Fighters tournament.]

[Special Note: Your attitude will directly influence Yashiro Iori’s decision!]

Fang Bo hadn’t expected a simple meal to trigger a hidden quest.

If it were any other reincarnator, they might be overjoyed. But for Fang Bo, there was no way he would accept Geese’s offer.

First, he had already triggered the “Fate’s Path” quest, vowing to help Kyo Kusanagi win the King of Fighters title.

Compared to Kyo, Geese and his syndicate were practically nothing.

Second, Fang Bo’s ultimate goal was to overthrow the NESTS.

Against the enormous clone army of the NESTS, Geese’s syndicate was nothing more than a powerless infant.

Fang Bo slowly closed the box and shook his head firmly, his expression resolute: “Sorry, I don’t think I can help you with this.”

Seeing Fang Bo’s unwavering refusal, Geese’s smile faded slightly.

However, he still held onto a glimmer of hope, turning his gaze to the silent Yashiro Iori.

But to his surprise, Yashiro didn’t even acknowledge him.

The money-filled boxes in front of Yashiro seemed no more valuable than dirt.

The only reason he had accepted Geese’s invitation was because he knew Fang Bo was being hunted. Taking care of Geese was a way to repay the favor.

If not for that, back when Billy blocked their taxi, the Crimson Flame would have already burned him to the ground.

Although his strength was no longer at its peak, Yashiro’s pride remained intact.

Aside from a few, there were no fighters in the world who could command his respect.

Terry Bogard didn’t qualify, and neither did Geese, whose strength was even weaker.

“Are you done?” Yashiro finally asked, losing patience.

He wanted to wrap this up quickly and then go find Chizuru Kagura to treat his injuries.

The thought of Kyo Kusanagi recovering his peak strength only made the leather chair beneath him feel unbearably hot.

Throwing Yashiro a look, Fang Bo pushed the box aside, meeting Geese’s gaze and speaking slowly, each word weighed with intent: “You know, both you and the money don’t matter to me.”

Geese instinctively pressed on, “Then what does matter?”

“Without you, it matters to me,” Fang Bo said.

At that moment, the tension in the room became palpable.

Not receiving the answer he wanted, Geese’s fake courtesy finally cracked.

“Damn.” Billy raised his weapon, about to take action, but before he could move, a figure suddenly blocked his path.

Before Billy could react, Yashiro grabbed his face with one hand, slamming him into the floor with overwhelming force.

Fatal Move: Two Hundred and Twelve Style – Koto Tsuki Yomi!

[Yashiro Iori (Descendant of the Three Sacred Treasures)]

[Attack Inclination: Low]

[Attribute Inclination: Agility, Spirit, Strength]

[Traits: Destructive Crimson Flame (Legendary), Orochi Blood]

[Threat Level: Extremely Dangerous]

Even with only sixty percent of his peak strength, Yashiro remained an elite fighter.

He couldn’t take down Kula or K9999, but dealing with Billy was an easy task.

Yashiro’s decisive action truly caught Geese’s syndicate off guard.

No one had expected these two to make a move on their turf.

Were they really out of their minds?

At the entrance, a large group of gang members rushed in, but before they could get any closer, Fang Bo casually tossed an explosive talisman, which sent them flying in all directions.

Seizing the opportunity, Fang Bo successfully summoned his shikigami, bringing forth Rokurokubi and her brood of spiders.

“These little ones are yours now.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of them,” Rokurokubi responded, her gaze filled with an insatiable hunger for flesh.

After waiting for so long, she finally had a chance to unleash her carnage.

A swarm of ghost spiders lunged at the gang members outside, and within moments, their terrified screams filled the air.

Seeing this, Fang Bo pulled out two puppets, looking toward the calm and composed Geese Howard, the mafia godfather who had been observing silently.

It was no surprise that someone like Geese, a true powerhouse, would remain unfazed even as his subordinates fell in droves. His eyes didn’t even twitch.

Only when his men were completely blocked outside did Geese finally remove his pristine suit, revealing a white martial arts uniform underneath.

“You’ve really disappointed me.”

With a murderous glint in his eyes, Geese revealed a powerful, lion-like physique.

The overwhelming pressure he exuded was no less formidable than any of the top-tier fighters Fang Bo had encountered before.

It was clear that Geese, the ruler of South Town, was no ordinary foe.

[Geese Howard (Legendary Villain)]

[Attack Inclination: High]

[Attribute Inclination: Strength, Endurance, Agility]

[Traits: Unyielding, Nightmare Power (Sealed)]

[Threat Level: Extremely Dangerous]

Unyielding: Your body is incredibly resilient, allowing you to counterattack powerfully even when hit.

Fang Bo could feel Geese’s gaze, and his face tightened. The sensation was like a hungry lion locking its eyes on a succulent meal.

“I’ll make you understand the consequences of angering me.”

Before Fang Bo could even react, Geese unleashed a fierce wind punch, similar to Rugal’s signature attack.

In fact, Rugal probably learned the technique from Geese, and now Geese executed it with even more devastating force.

A pale blue shockwave shot through the air, and Fang Bo quickly raised a sand-iron barrier in front of him.

Bang!

The one-sided sand-iron barrier cracked under the force, but it managed to block the attack just in time.

However, the golden ripples in the air above his head grew more intense, and Fang Bo’s expression shifted drastically.

A more terrifying punch followed, immediately breaking through the sand-iron defense and landing a heavy blow on Fang Bo.

[You have been hit by Geese’s Double Wind Punch, taking 123+76 damage.]

[Your innate trait “Steel Heart” activates, restoring 74 health.]

The passive effect of Steel Heart was weak, only restoring a meager 74 health points.

Seeing a third of his health disappear in an instant, Fang Bo understood that these top-tier fighters were simply out of his league.

As his body was sent flying backward, eight attack-oriented treasures appeared, ready to strike Geese and cool him down.

By now, Fang Bo had become adept at seizing opportunities.

Even when badly wounded, he still launched an attack at the precise moment Geese’s skills were exhausted.

But he had underestimated Geese’s speed. The bulky man moved with an agility that was completely unexpected.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Fang Bo’s treasures struck empty air, with only the Ying Yue Fork managing to land a barely noticeable hit.

[Your treasure caused 45 points of damage to Geese.]

Such an attack was nowhere near enough to harm the formidable leader of South Town.

As Geese closed in, Fang Bo was about to unleash his Yoriichi Type 0, but Geese swiftly sidestepped, dodging the blade with ease, his exceptional fighting prowess on full display.

He reached out and grabbed one of the puppets, gathering his energy and delivering a crushing throw with a forceful, powerful spin.

Fatal Move: Thunderous Ruin Throw!
