Chapter 49: Blood Oath Contract Talisman

The bullet exploded, and ice rapidly spread across an area of several dozen meters.

At first, Krieg didn’t understand Fang Bo’s intentions. But when he took a step and his body uncontrollably slipped to the side, he finally realized what was happening.

Before he could curse Fang Bo for his trickery, a talisman from the Onmyoji exploded in his face.

“Curse you! I’ll make sure none of you have a grave to rest in!”

Krieg, enraged, began using his massive golden battle spear to smash the ground around him. The sound of violent explosions echoed as the icy surface was quickly cleared away.

In the chaos, Kuro silently appeared behind Krieg. With his cat claws, he slashed at the back of Krieg’s knees, targeting the soft spot behind them.

“What?!” Krieg swung his golden spear, fury burning in his eyes. “You were holding back this whole time?!”

Just a few minutes ago, Kuro had feigned exhaustion, taking several hits without using his Silent Step again. Krieg thought Kuro was no longer a threat. Little did he know, it was all part of Kuro’s plan, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

Dodging Krieg’s attack, Kuro swiftly moved to the side, slicing through the tendons in Krieg’s other leg with ease.

At this point, Krieg’s defeat was inevitable.

His massive body collapsed heavily to the ground. Despite propping himself up with his weapon, he was close to his breaking point. He had managed to reclaim his golden armor thanks to his subordinates’ desperate efforts, but he still couldn’t defeat Kuro.

Krieg couldn’t understand how someone he had once defeated found the courage to challenge him again. How could his grand pirate fleet be brought down by the lowly Black Cat Pirates?

There were too many unanswered questions swirling in Krieg’s mind, but Kuro had no intention of providing any answers.

With a swift slice, Kuro slit Krieg’s throat. The admiral who had commanded 5,000 pirates had finally paid the price for his arrogance.

Kuro cruelly severed Krieg’s head, raising it as he slowly walked toward the ongoing battle.

Killing the captain wasn’t enough; Kuro needed Krieg’s death to strike fear into the remaining pirates. If he could, Kuro hoped to seize the remnants of the Krieg Pirates and solidify his position as the new ruler of the East Blue.

Watching Kuro depart, the two reincarnators turned their attention to the golden treasure chest lying on the ground.

Because their participation hadn’t been significant enough, the items inside the chest might not be of the highest value. But it was still a golden treasure chest, and with four rewards available, they were bound to find something good.

“Let me do it!” Ryuno excitedly prayed for good luck before reaching out to open the chest.

[You are opening a Gold Plot Chest.]

[You have received 500 Plot Points.]

[You have received the Golden Battle Spear.]

[You have received 8 Deadly Poison Gas Bombs.]

[You have received 3 Roasted Sea King Limbs.]

The **Golden Battle Spear** was an epic weapon, boasting terrifying destructive power and explosive capabilities. In the hands of a melee-focused reincarnator, it would be a devastating weapon, especially against large numbers of enemies.

The moment Ryuno saw the Golden Battle Spear, her eyes lit up. She couldn’t use it, but her companion met all the requirements to wield such a massive weapon.

“An epic weapon… I don’t have enough Plot Points to pay for it,” Ryuno said, torn by indecision.

Meanwhile, Fang Bo examined the remaining items.

The **Deadly Poison Gas Bombs** could release a potent toxic mist that caused ongoing damage. Depending on the enemy’s resistance, the effects could vary greatly. Fang Bo vaguely remembered that ordinary people would die instantly with just a little exposure.

“Good stuff.”

The **Roasted Sea King Limbs** were parts of a Sea King. Eating them would restore 60% of health. Fang Bo needed this just as much, as any food that could replenish health was invaluable to him.

Glancing at Ryuno, Fang Bo noticed her gaze locked on the Golden Battle Spear. Her desire for it was clear, but an epic weapon was expensive. Fang Bo doubted she could afford it.

“Uh, I think—”

“I’ll take the Golden Battle Spear, 500 Plot Points, and the Poison Gas Bombs,” Ryuno firmly declared before he could finish.

It was fine to want those items, but how was she going to pay for them?

By collecting the Plot Points as well, it was clear Ryuno intended to barter.

‘She’s not going to offer a shikigami, is she?’ Fang Bo thought, intrigued. If it was her **Ubume**, maybe. But **Akashita**, not so much.

His guess wasn’t far off, though there was a subtle difference.

When Ryuno pulled out a contract scroll, Fang Bo felt his heart race.

Blood Oath Contract Talisman: A high-level talisman created by Dark Seimei, used to forcibly establish a contract with a yokai. The highest level yokai it can capture is SR.

Created by Dark Seimei, this artifact could forcibly bind a yokai into a contract, turning it into a shikigami that could be summoned at will.

Although the talisman’s rank was limited to capturing SR-level yokai, Fang Bo was more than satisfied.

Even if he were given a higher-level contract talisman and presented with powerful yokai like **Shuten Doji** or **Tamamo-no-Mae**, he wasn’t strong enough to subdue them yet.

To use the talisman, the yokai’s health had to be reduced to below 20%. For now, capturing yokai like **Shuten Doji** would have to wait until Fang Bo reached higher-difficulty worlds.

“Thank you,” Fang Bo said, expressing his sincere gratitude.

Let’s not discuss whether the value exchange was worth it or not—what matters is that the two things Ryuno gave him were both excellent.

The Blood Oath Contract Talisman alone was priceless; he would soon have his very first summoning beast that truly belonged to him. And the Dragoon Flintlock Pistol had already become his main source of damage.

Even he had to admit that meeting this Onmyoji girl had been a stroke of luck for him.

“Don’t mention it; it’s me who should be thanking you,” Ryuno said with a shake of her head, harboring similar thoughts.

Without this man’s meticulous planning, she would never have triggered the hidden quest, nor would she have had the strength to defeat the pirate admiral.

Sure, the Blood Oath Contract Talisman was priceless, but the **Golden Battle Spear** was even more crucial. It would determine the future growth of her entire team.

Thanks to this battle, their team’s power would grow tremendously, giving them a much better shot at completing the golden main storyline missions ahead.

After a moment of hesitation, Ryuno finally summoned the courage to voice her thoughts: “Jason, I’d like to invite you to join our team. Don’t worry, every member of our team is a top-tier expert.”

Fang Bo sighed internally. How could he not see through Ryuno’s intentions?

Many times, he had deliberately avoided this topic, yet she couldn’t help but bring it up in the end.

If he were an ordinary reincarnator, given the strong rapport they had built during their cooperation, he might have accepted her offer.

Unfortunately, life doesn’t work with “what ifs.”

“I’m sorry.”

Hearing his refusal, Ryuno forced a smile. “It’s fine. I had a feeling you’d say no, but I couldn’t help asking.”

Both fell into a long silence, only breaking their gaze when the familiar voice of the space system echoed in their minds.

“It seems Kuro succeeded.”

The hidden mission was completed, and the most exciting part was, of course, the reward.

Fang Bo had meticulously planned this mission and now had the chance to pick three rewards.

Poor Ryuno, due to her relatively low contribution, was only given two choices by the system. Worse yet, there were no rare options among her five possible rewards, so she had to settle for 2 attribute points.

[Hidden Mission: Ruler of the East Blue (Completed).]

[Calculating results. Generating rewards.]

[Based on your contribution, you may select three rewards from the following options!]

Option 1: 1,000 Plot Points

Option 2: Treasure Map

Option 3: Perfect Restoration Potion (Rare)

Option 4: Title – Ruler of the East Blue (Rare)

Option 5: 15 Merit Points (Uncommon)

The **Perfect Restoration Potion** had shown up again—an item that could save his life in a critical moment.

No question, that would definitely take up one slot.

The treasure map didn’t seem all that useful, and Fang Bo didn’t want to create any unnecessary complications, so he decided to skip that.

As for the rare merit points, they were a must-have. Fang Bo longed for the ability to choose three plot worlds simultaneously.

With that power, he could plan based on his knowledge, even estimate future rewards and uncover hidden quests.

And the final reward…

The Ruler of the East Blue title: You have become a top-tier pirate with unrivaled influence in the East Blue. Pirate recruitment rate +100%, intimidation effect greatly increased, and the number of strongholds you can control is doubled.

If he were just starting in the pirate world, Fang Bo would have chosen this without hesitation, giving him the chance to do even more.

But now things were different—he was about to leave this plot world. And if he returned, it would surely be to challenge the **Grand Line**.

Who would want to stay stuck in the weak seas of the East Blue?

“Sigh, compared to an intangible title, the immediate benefits are more important. Besides, summoning shikigami is likely going to eat up a lot of plot points. No matter how many I get, it’ll never be enough.”

For his third reward, Fang Bo chose 1,000 plot points.

With a total of over 4,000 plot points in hand, he felt a deep sense of security. But the pirate world wasn’t over yet—there was still the third plot mission, which he expected to be a challenge.

When they returned to the shore, they found that the Black Cat Pirates had grown even larger, now boasting nearly 2,000 crew members.

Now, Kuro was unquestionably the ruler of the East Blue, and he was a scheming captain whose threat to the seas would far surpass that of Krieg.

Sure enough, the Navy seemed to share that view.

When the next day’s newspaper arrived, the newly updated bounty amounts confirmed his suspicions.

Kuro of a Hundred Plans: Bounty—22,000,000 Berries.

Jason the Brutal: Bounty—12,000,000 Berries.

Ryuno the Medium: Bounty—8,000,000 Berries.
