- In Marvel: I Start by Marrying Scarlett Witch [Complete]
- MWM Chapter 96
“Truly a warm-hearted and kind wizard!”
Upon hearing Leo’s words, both Newt and Tina couldn’t help but sigh inwardly at the same time.
This was indeed someone who would step forward and confront dark wizards for the sake of Muggle safety, even though, aside from Aurors, the first reaction of most wizards when encountering dark wizards would be to run away.
It’s like an ordinary citizen encountering an internationally notorious murderer with over a hundred lives on their hands—who wouldn’t flee in terror?
A person like Leo deserves a “Good Citizen” award in the wizarding world.
Newt’s suitcase contained many of his own spells, so if it wasn’t too far away, he could effectively track its location.
The three of them chatted as they walked, and before long, under Newt’s guidance, they arrived in front of a dilapidated five-story building.
However, it was clear that something had already happened here—a large hole had been blasted through the wall of a third-floor room, and the residents of the entire building were fleeing in panic, thinking there had been another gas explosion.
Even the patrolling police officers on the street had rushed over upon hearing the commotion.
“I’ll go up and check the situation; could you help manage things down here?”
Seeing the hole in the wall, Newt realized things had gone wrong and immediately drew his wand and rushed inside.
Tina and Leo had no choice but to cast memory-erasing charms on the panicked Muggles below, wiping their recent memories one by one.
By the time the two of them made it to the third floor, Newt had already used a repair charm to fix the entire room and had found his suitcase.
However, the room’s owner, Jacob, had already been bitten by a Murtlap that had escaped from the suitcase.
“Exactly how many Nifflers are in your suitcase?”
Tina looked at Newt suspiciously after entering the room.
Just moments ago, Newt had said that the creatures in his suitcase were all like Nifflers—cute, magical creatures that were a bit mischievous but posed no threat to wizards or Muggles.
But clearly, it wasn’t that simple. How many Nifflers would it take to cause this level of destruction?
Newt merely scratched his head awkwardly, not daring to say much.
He couldn’t tell Tina that in addition to Nifflers, his suitcase also contained highly dangerous magical creatures like Thunderbirds, Graphorns, and Nundus.
Otherwise, he feared Tina might lose her mind.
After all, a single Nundu couldn’t be subdued without at least a hundred wizards working together, not to mention the even more dangerous Thunderbird.
“Oh, there’s a Muggle gentleman injured here.”
Sensing Newt’s discomfort, Leo approached Jacob, who was still retching, smoothly diverting the topic.
But just as he squatted down to check on Jacob, the Murtlap hidden in the corner suddenly darted out, aiming to give him a bite as well.
But given his skills, Leo didn’t even need magic. He simply raised his hand and effortlessly grabbed the Murtlap, no matter how much it struggled, it couldn’t escape.
“What an adorable Murtlap.”
Leo restrained the Murtlap with brute force, shaking it lightly in front of Tina to show that it posed no threat before handing it over to Newt.
Newt looked grateful as he quickly took the Murtlap and shoved it back into the suitcase.
“Adorable… It wasn’t that adorable when it bit me.”
Jacob, still retching, looked up at Leo in disbelief, but he was clearly still unable to speak properly.
“He’s not seriously injured; he’ll be fine in a while. Let me erase his memory first.”
Newt got up and prepared to cast a memory-erasing charm on Jacob, but Tina raised her hand to stop him.
“No, I need him as a witness. I now have serious doubts about your suitcase, and tomorrow, you’re coming with me to the Congress!”
As a former top Auror, Tina was not only stubborn but also sharp-witted.
If the magical creatures in Newt’s suitcase were truly harmless, how could this Muggle be injured? How could the room end up with such a massive hole?
To be honest, the extent of the room’s damage was somewhat similar to the magical creature attacks on Muggle homes that had occurred the previous day.
She intended to wait until the Muggle recovered to find out exactly what had happened from his perspective.
“If it were serious, his anus would be spewing flames.”
Newt scratched his head, eager to wrap things up here and shake off Tina so he could go after the other magical creatures that had escaped from his suitcase; otherwise, things would get really troublesome.
At the mention of flaming anuses, Jacob’s eyes widened in shock as he finally managed to squeeze out a sentence:
“I must be dreaming, and it’s a nightmare.”
“Tina, you see, Newt only just arrived in New York today. It should just be an accident.”
Leo chimed in.
But Tina was clearly not someone easily convinced. She grabbed Newt with one hand and Jacob with the other:
“Mr. Frie, thank you for your help. It’s getting late, so you should head back to the magical street to rest. If he’s truly innocent, I won’t give him a hard time.”
With that, she Apparated, disappearing from the room with the two of them.
“Great, step one of the plan is complete!”
Watching the three vanish, Leo shrugged, a faint smile appearing on his face.
He hadn’t intended to go with them to Tina’s house anyway, because Tina’s sister was a natural Legilimens, someone who could instinctively read people’s thoughts.
And since he hadn’t yet learned Occlumency, it was best to avoid meeting her.
“Clatter!”
At that moment, a portrait of Jacob’s grandmother hanging on the wall suddenly fell to the floor, revealing a Niffler that had been hiding in the wall cavity.
The Niffler glanced at Leo, blinked, and quickly jumped out of the hole, attempting to escape.
However, just as it landed, Leo used a lightning-fast movement spell to appear before it, swiftly scooping it up from the ground.
“Perfect, this will serve as a good excuse for our next meeting!”
With a flick of his wand, he transformed a bowl on the nearby table into a cage with a Transfiguration spell, then tossed the squirming Niffler into it.
“Apparate!”
Carrying the cage with the Niffler inside, Leo vanished from the spot.
That evening, he didn’t bother with another “accidental” meeting in the park. Instead, he chose to stay in his hotel room and read a magic book. After all, he had already had one chance encounter during the day; another one at night would seem too suspicious.
For a wizard to be wandering around a Muggle park at night rather than staying in the magical street didn’t make much sense.
Besides, now that he had a Niffler in hand, he could go directly to the Magical Congress the next day to return it to Newt.
If things went according to plan, by then, Tina and Newt would likely have been framed as criminals inciting a war between the magical and non-magical worlds, branded as Grindelwald’s fanatics.
That would be the perfect time for him to step in and save them, further deepening their trust in him.
